Anti-LGBT State Rep Sally Kern Facing Transwoman Brittany Novotny In November Election

Democrat Brittany Novotny is running against Sally Kern, the Oklahoma state representative who believes that "the homosexual agenda is just destroying this nation".  Novotny is a straight woman who was raised male.  She had genital reconstruction surgery and fully transitioned three years ago.  She is Oklahoma's first known transsexual candidate.

Novotny insists that this is not about gender politics, but rather about the fact that Kern has been pursuing her own agenda while in office instead of working for the people of her district.  Novotny stated "For six years, we've had someone who has not represented her district, has been ineffective on problems, and is bad for business."  Kern fired back that this is just the usual campaign rhetoric.  Kern has vowed to not mention Novotny's gender reassignment during the campaign stating that there are enough issues that they disagree about without needing to bring that in.
