Did Your Gym Membership Help Squash Trans Rights In New York? Is Your State Next?

We've heard of bathroom worries being used as an excuse to deny transgender people their rights more times than we care to count. But it now seems that toilet panic also played a part in the recent failure of GENDA in the New York Senate. The International Health, Racquet and Sportsclub Association apparently lobbied against the bill because they didn't want cross-dressing men scoping out locker room lady-ass. And what's worse is that IHRSA has lobbied against trans rights in another state as well. So if your gym is one of the 9,000+ of clubs associated with IHRSA, it might be time to change your membership. Termination fees can be a bitch, but so can ethical unrest.
