Sometimes people only post when they have problems with their surgery.  Please take the poll so that those awaiting surgery will have a better idea of how often problems occur.

I added an extra category for surgeries performed more than 10 years ago because the techniques were not what they are today.

I was intending this for MtF GRS, but FtM's can chime in, too.

Ok Kate - I'll kick off.

My surgery as everyone probably knows was over a quarter of a century ago. The result was functionally good in that I had well over 6 inches of depth (which I still have despite people telling me it is impossible) - I also had good sensitivity and no problems with healing.

I had very little discomfort. The only pain meds I took during the entire hospital stay were paracetamol.

HOWEVER - and it is a very big however, back then the surgery was a lot less "pretty" than modern techniques can achieve. The result whilst ok was not at all anatomically accurate. The clitoris was way too big and far to sensitive. (I literally couldn't bear to have it touched). The urethral opening was in completely the wrong place, I lacked labia minora, I had no clitoral hood etc etc etc.

Factor into this a subsequent discovery a few years back of what was euphemistically called "anomalous tissue" which the previous surgeon had ignored for some reason and it became ineveitable that I was eventually going to go back to someone for a sort out. My original surgeon has long since retired.

Results second time around are truly astounding to me, and left me wondering why I had waited so long! The surgeon worked miracles, I have a nice small sensate clitoris, clitoral hood with neat small labia minora, anatomically accurate vulva, urethral opening in the right place. I honestly think I now have one of the lovliest pussys I know!

Great topic, Kate.  I think it would also be helpful if people would also include their surgeon as well as it would help those seeking surgery to make a sound decision.

Good point although for my first time around surgeon it's irrelevant because even his successor has now retired.

Second time around I saw Mr James Bellringer at Charing Coss Hospital in London.

I had a very good experience.  Dr. Christine said that I recovered better than 90% of her patients so I feel very blessed.

No real problems, though I did have a bit of a start about four months post surgical.  I started spitting stitches that I had thought long gone.  As a result, I had a very tender vulva for a couple of weeks as they worked themselves out.

Since then my depth has been all I could ever want (and so would any guy).  And I have been sensate and orgasmic both clitorally and vaginally.

No real problems at all.

I haven't had surgery and my only complication is affording it

But I am very interested to hear of other's experiences

I am going to say "None".

Though I did subsequently have labiaplasty so that my vagina
would conform to my aesthetic vision of what she should look
like, even though others said she was perfectly fine right from
the factory.
