Janis

Hi my name is Janis and I am a male to female 'non-op'transsexual or, transgender, depending on the state of modern terms. I am fifty five years old an I have lurked in the shadows of the closet for almost that long.
Recently I have come out with the whole truth to all of my family and close friends. Life has become a blast now, and after years of depression and spiritual fatigue I can now honestly say life is good.
I hope to share in some good conversation and make some new friends.

Cheers, Janis

Hi Janis, :icon_wave:

Welcome to our little family. Over 4900 strong. That would be one heck of a family reunion.

Feel free to post your successes/failures, Hopes/dreams.  Ask questions and seek answers. Give and receive advice.

But remember we are family here, your family now. And it is always nice to have another sister. :icon_hug:

And be sure to check out these links ( MUST READS )

Hugs and Love,

Janis:

We have SO much in common!  I turn 55 in a tad under 4 months.  I'm also a pre-op transwoman at this time.  I came out to my family and friends at age 53.  I started hormone replacement therapy at age 54.  Life is FINALLY good ... after all of these years.

You just would not believe how much I love your name:  Janis!

My favorite singer of all time is Janis Joplin.  I've loved her singning for 40+ years now.  My YouTube channel (http://www.youtube.com/user/FanOfJanis) is a tribute to her.  I'll love her until the day I pass away.  Best blues singer I've ever heard!

Though we both started late:  Better late than never, right?

You can verify for me (for the benefit of the many younger people here) that transitioning in the mid-1970s/early-1980s was a whole different ballgame than it is today ... nearly impossible ... unless you had a lot going for you and were really lucky.  The Internet, the attitudes and the openness make transitioning so very much easier and possible now ... thank goodness.

Welcome, sister!  Glad you're here!

73 and 10 years postop.

You 'youngsters' are still old enough to check out the ElderTG news list link in Susan's links area.

Robyn:   You've made my day!

First, I was not aware of that list and will check it out.

Second, I'll check out the Northwest Gender Alliance per your advice.

Third, godspeed on your trek to Maui ... GREAT climate!

;)   Many thanks, Big Sister, and may happiness, prosperity and peace be yours!

Welcome Janis.
I come out and accepted what I was last year. I was 50 then.
After 6 months of research on the net the puzzle was complete.
So you the same age. Half centenarians if I can say that.
