I just signed up for the forum.  I've been on a number of forums around the net, and I always get alot out of sharing info and experiences.

I'm 47 and I recently had SRS surgery...i've run the gauntlet of HRT, RLE, FFS, and finally SRS...i ran that gauntlet in 18 months!!

During that time, I kept my relationships with my daughters and loved ones in good shape, I worked very hard on my appearance, and I lost my job.

I'm getting out more now and starting to look for a new job, but finding it very difficult.

Anyway...thnx for having me

Hi Kaitlyn and welcome to Susans :)

I'm well behind you on the transition stakes (about to start HRT) But I have at least managed to lose my job too :D

I hope that you find the forum as informative, supportive and fun as I have.

Take care  Millie xxx

Welcome to our little family. Over 4900 strong. That would be one heck of a family reunion.

Feel free to post your successes/failures, Hopes/dreams.  Ask questions and seek answers. Give and receive advice.

Welcome, Kaitlyn:

You ran the gamut in 18 months?  That's REALLY rockin', girl!  Also, it's great that you have good relationships with your daughters.  That's SO good and SO important.

Let this older sister (mid-50's) give a word of advice to anybody here in their late-30s or beyond:

If you're out of a job in THIS economy and at YOUR age, consider either freelancing and/or consulting.  There are 3 keys to success doing this:

*   Find a problem you can solve or a solution you can provide;
*   Learn to market yourself well and consistently; and,
*   Develop good work habits and follow-through.

Get with the times, learn the technology and consider telecommuting.  I've done it for nearly 15 years, and I'm older than most of you.  I have no degree.  I have no contacts.  I have no friends in high places

Anyway, that's SO cool that you've "gone the distance" in your transition.  My new doctor (after a cross-country move by my family and me) is also a transwoman and up-ticked my hormone replacement therapy!  After only a few days, things are starting to really roll in that regard.  Wow!

We're glad you're here.  I'll be interested to read your posts, so DO post!  Thanks.

Wow! All that in 18 months and keeping family connections too.  Hope the job search goes well, and you can have a win all round. Hugs from another Aussie.
