Had the meeting this morning, and it went really well. I was so nervous I thought my stomach was going to jump out my throat. Had to talk in front of the whole office, including the Calgary office listening over the speakerphone in their boardroom.

But everyone was totally great about it, and I've had some really great emails from a couple coworkers saying they think I did a really great job. Woo-hoo!

So yeah, huge big happy news indeed! :D

Excellent! :D I hope the co-workers continue to stay supportive or at least not give you a hard time.

Fantastic. I never had to do this at work...the program director just sent out an e-mail introducing my e-mail. That was stressful enough.

Ya done good.

I know. Having to go in front of several offices plus people on speakerphone from the boardroom? That takes balls. At least no one can say they didn't get the memo. :)

I commend you for coming out somewhere so important where everyone knows you. I don't know how I would have handled that.

Thanks guys!

The HR manager still hasn't sent out the company-wide email yet (to tell everyone in the other offices, and also so that I can change my email, etc) and my publisher says she's in meetings all day so it might not even happen today at all. :(

I know it's still great that at least my local two offices know (Edm & Cgy), but I'm still having to deal with coworkers from the other offices several times a day, and I hate having to answer the phone with my birth name, especially in front of the coworkers here who are now trying to get used to calling me James.

The whole reason we did the meeting yesterday was because the HR manager said she'd have time that day to send out the email after, whereas she wouldn't have time today. And yet she still never got around to it. It's already written, she just needs to type in "[companyname]everyone@[domain].com" into the email list and hit send. It bugs me that she's dragging her feet on this, because I really don't want any of the other employees to hear by word of mouth before they get the official announcement. {sigh}

Although I know it's greedy of me to complain at this point since the rest of the process has already gone so well... :embarrassed:

Oh well, back to being patient I suppose.
