Hello my name is Michael and I'm just about to turn 19 years old. I'm here because just recently I've discovered that I feel transgender. For as long as I can remember, I've wanted to be female in every sense. From dress, to roles in relationships and sex, to carrying children (although I know I can't do that even with hormones =/ ). I never thought I would want to change myself but lately I have changed my mind. I've been calling myself gay for about 6 years and it doesn't feel right. Being with another man, as a man is appealing in a way because I like men but being with another man as a woman is what I want. And I guess I might've been repressing my transgenderness? if that's a word. lol. But I'm just here to learn about what I need to do, get support from others in my situation and hear others stories and make friends. I've already told my sisters and my best friend and a few of my online friends and they are all 100% supportive of me going through this. I've been constantly reading on the net about transitions and the thought excites me more every word I read and every video I watch. I cannot wait to get started in my own transition. I do have a few questions about transgenders, like is it considered an actual like "condition" or something or is it all just how you feel? I'm a little worried that I might just be telling myself I am to make myself happy BUT being transgender makes sense with how I've been my whole life and thinking about being female in the future actually makes me excited to advance in my life. I hardly ever got excited about my future before. I hope this isn't to messy of an intro but I guess I'll wrap it up!

You are so young. The promise of science is likely to fulfill your wildest dreams within your life time.
Believe it sister.
Some day they will be able to create entire organs in a lab, that isn't far off. Maybe 10-30 more years and the science will be perfected. Even if you are not able to get said organs in your life time, you will see the trans youth in your old age, getting complete transition surgerys. That is exciting. I envy your youth, and your resolve to do something about this now. I waited until my 40's to start my transition.

Aww I wanted to cry thinking about being an old(er) lady watching or hearing about young people becoming their true selves. I'm falling in love with every story I hear and every person I read about. I can honestly say that nothing has ever made me more motivated or excited or scared or HAPPY in the longest time. And I am sorry you waited so long to transition but I'm so happy for you! Thanks for the warm welcome. With two responses I'm feeling welcome already! I really think this place will be vital in my transition if it's what I end up doing which at this point nothing else is an option. I don't think I'll be able to find happiness any other way.

One thing that worries me is, am I trans? My whole life I've wanted to be a girl but I guess I'm just scared? I'm going with my gut feeling right now because I've never felt this good and optimistic!

Read this four or five times and then ask yourself..."Am I a transsexual."















Even if you are not transsexual you are some shade of transgender. You have had cross gender ideation for your entire life. That is about the bigest red flag we can find.

My gut keeps telling me I am female on the inside. I guess maybe since I just accepted this that it's just new and scary to me? Time will only tell I suppose!

Talking it out often helps solidify your thoughts and emotions. Talking to others here can make a difference and talking to a therapist can ease your way into transition as well as sort your self out.

Yeah I've been talking about it constantly to my friends and sisters and I feel like I'm going to drive them crazy but hey they gotta get used to it right? It's a long process. I'm more and more sure that I am though. I just have this nagging in the back of my head. But the more I look at pictures of other peoples transitions and the more people I here about the more I feel like this is what I need. I've never felt this way about anything and I'm so excited to see where I end up.

I think one thing confusing me is the fact that I don't HATE what I have downstairs. I have a nice one and I enjoy entertaining myself but other than that I don't like having it. I don't like the way it feels in clothes or when I'm walking or sitting around. And even though I'm a virgin I have never had any urge or desire to use it during sex. But if I was female I would.

I cant say I hate my downstairs parts either. Yes they make me uncomfortable and can bring me to tears but I get along with it for the most part.

Now I can't say that has always been that way. There was a time I would have cut it off if I could have withstood the pain.

I'm terribly sorry you were that upset by it! =[ Maybe I'm just luckier? I don't know. But being trans makes sense of how I've been my whole life. I never liked using urinals or even standing up to pee! =/

Funny, standing to pee is one of the only rewards of being male bodied I have liked.

Haha really? I hate it. You have to like aim and I always seem to miss, on the rare chance when the toilet in public is dirty and I don't want to sit down lol. But I think the only thing I like about having this body is my penis in a way. I don't want to be dirty but I like to, as I said, entertain myself a lot lol. I guess I just love penises. I alway have though haha.

First, get good, accurate information.  You will find good, accurate information at THIS website.  There is lots and lots of bogus info on The Internet about transsexuality.  Get your answers either here or from links here or from the people here.  Susan's is renowned for having good information.

Second, if you are truly trans, and it sounds like you are, it will help you to get to know other people just like you.  Again, this is a great place to do that.  Jump in.  Post anytime.  Get involved.

Third, God, you are SO young.  Like, so what?  Well, just this:  Your chances for a FANTASTIC transition (if that's what you want to do) are SUPERB!  Many of us here really wish we could have started transitioning at age 19.  

Lastly, it's great that your sisters and friends are cool with you.  Rock on!  That's very important and will help you a lot!

Thanks for the response! I already love it here at susans! I'm meeting a few people and I feel like I fit right in! The more I learn about transitioning and the people who have gone through it, the more excited I get to actually start it! My first counseling session is tomorrow and I'm so nervous and excited!!

Btw my sig is a line from Katy Perry's song California Gurls. I love it!

And I love the beach boys, well what I've heard. I got their greatest hits of summer or something for Xmas a few years ago cuz I fell in love with my moms copy and I wanted my own haha. And Idk I think my mom grew up liking them. Idk when they were around but my parents are like in their mid/early forties. Idk haha.
