Have you guys ever been in a fight and the other person come off with something like SCREW YOU ____birthname____

I hadn't talked to this person since January and he decided to contact me and start saying a bunch of crap about my girlfriend and how I was a "parasite to society", finally pulling out the birthname trick.  He was my best friend for the longest time until he starting doing meth and other hardcore drugs.  I know I should just ignore him since he was high and a complete idiot, but when people try to pull that trick, the feeling of wanting to slit my wrists comes over me (I'm not going to do it.  It's just an overwhelming feeling of anger, sadness, and self hatred).  What do you guys do?  It really throws me through a loop

Ugh.  Scumbags like that will do whatever it takes to make you feel bad about yourself.  Addicts especially. I lived with an addict (who was also my "best friend") for a while and they are low and dirty, some of the stuff they say is unbelievable.  I know ignore it is not very useful advice, but he is just lashing out at you because he knows he is pathetic and you are not.  He's trying to drag you down with him, because he wants everyone else to feel bad about themselves too.

Ignoring these people is the ONLY way you can make them stop.  Do not engage with him. The dude I mentioned above still emails me threats and pathetic apologies, although I have not had any contact with him for the last 3 years. Stay strong man.

I think he is just trying to provoke you until you respond in the way he wants. Don't fall for it. Someone that disrespectful doesn't deserve that kind of attention. You have every right to your feelings but why chose to associate with someone who is only going to make you feel worse?

Thats eli.

I don't associate with him.  Like I said, I haven't talked to him in 6 months. He just randomly decided to send rude harassing texts

Idk sounds like he's crazy. He must be confusing you with someone else ;)

But seriously I agree with those above saying to ignore it and stay strong. <3

I mentally stab my birthname and cringe and swear up a storm everytime I see or hear my birthname, even in reference to someone else.

Aww <3 That doesn't sound like fun! =[

Last night, I went to the movies with my bestie, and I'm trying out female pronouns or w/e and my bestie was texting one of her online friends about me and I was like he? And she's like do you want me to use she? And I was like please =] And then her friend was like I keep forgetting! she she she she! Haha it feels good when people do support you. It's going to suck when I come out and have everyone call me the right thing and they mess up =[

I personally feel sad because I did like my 'birth name'. It was unique and individual and I put up with it for so long that I felt I deserved that name. (In a positive way). But I knew it wasn't my 'real' name? If I can say that..  :-\   ;) Since my new name is all out there and that's what my friends and associates call me/ I introduce myself as, I have learnt that a lot of advantages come with it besides the fact I feel right saying and hearing it. I don't have to spell out my first or middle name anymore, I can stuff with my name already on it (if i wanted to) and I changed my last name so people recognize my family history.  ;D (I had my father's changed last name, now I have my mother's last name).
