Well as Im too scared to get my hair cut short I decide I'll take a picture with all my hair pushed to one side and then with photoshop edit that hair out. Well to my suprise I look like a very convincing boy with short hair. I even added a little beard which looks quite ok.
I may put the picture up here soon but i'm still a little bit uncomfortable about posting any real pictures of me (Just incase some randomer I know ends up finding me on this site)

Well, if you do post something up, make sure you do it in "just for us" so only people who are registered here could see it rather than any random google searcher.

OT: I actually have stopped using my Photoshop cs3, nowadays I am 100% GIMP instead, and now that they have released a single window interface option, I am going to use it even more. I love editing photos.

I understand your reluctance to post pictures of youself. Announcing to people you are transgender is one thing. But having people finding out by stumbling on your picture, that is just losing control ofthe entire situation.

And what we all need is some control.

Our journey is one of self discovery, more than anything. We take each step as we feel confident. These may sound like a lot of metaphores, but I'm pretty sure you and everyone here will know what I mean.

Yep, it's in the 2.7.x   dev release, but if you don't want to import it from a PPA or if you run Windows, it will be out with the 2.8 release for everyone. They've been working on the interface for about a year now, I am surprised it took this long actually.

Actually i'm slowly getting the courage to put it as my profile picture. I dont want to be ashamed of myself. If people find it (and I doubt they will. I dont think anyone I know is gonna search a trans forum lol) then I will deal with it.

You really have a point there MRH, No one should be searching a transgender forum unless they really already know or strongly suspect, that is unless your username is your RL nickname or legal name, in which case google could lead them here.

"I Don't want to be ashamed of myself."- That is an interesting way of putting it, and It got me thinking, there are so many things that I don't like about how I look but, that is me and I really shouldn't be ashamed.

Even though I am not really "Out" I don't think I can afford to be ashamed of myself anymore. I think I will change my profile pic as well to the 'real' me as well, but in the meantime here I am untouched by GIMP, fat face and all (I am not that fat, why does my face look like I am!? My wife says it's in my head but...):

Understand your point MRH, though, if I may suggest, I don't see it as being ashamed, more being in control.

I want to tell people when I am ready to deal with it myself and deal with them.

But mostly dealing with me.

I think each of us will present what we each feel as and when we are ready. It isn't something that any of us should do before that.

That's just my opinion though.

I showed my mum the image (without beard) just to see what she thought and she said I looked like Meatloaf. MEATLOAF! Didnt make me feel so great lol

You're a bit of a hunk really.

You look fine MRH, I think we are always our own worst critics, I can think of a million things that I think make me look terrible, but most of them are in my head rather than reality. You certainly don't look like meatloaf, at least not that I can tell.

Doesn't it feel better to have a real picture up? For me it is somewhat liberating, if a bit scary.

Ok Helena, I can see you with an interesting camera and assume you are into photography.

I am also feeling a bit frisky after being attacked on all sides, on a completely unrelated forum because I posted an opinion which was different from everyone elses. ( But I was right dammit!!!)

But on the subject of Hakari's photos, I really like them. they are kinda goth, (is that the right word? I'm really trying to keep up with modern usage), and imply a sort of discontentment.

I also think the lighting is excellent. darker, more shadows, would have over done the effect. Lighter and the effect would be gone.

The open door, in the back ground is interesting. Incongruous to the image, yet it works. It may also indicate a temporary stay in that place. That the subject is seeking to walk away. The other open door, on the other side of the hall, leading to a darkened room suggests something has been closed off from the present reality for this figure.

the environment looks kinda well off and a bit formal. This juxtaposes with the goth figure, breaking with convention.

The eye liner suggests some borderline depression. The hair, clean yet unkempt, adds to the overall effect.

I actually just stood up at my desk and held my MSI Wind u100 up, turned Cheese on and took a photo with my webcam. The only reason why the picture isn't completely black is because of my desklamp. In fact, the whole occurrence was rather spontaneous, really I had no intent to take any pictures much less post them here, but I got to thinking what MRH said, and it occurred to me that I was a bit ashamed of the way I looked and I realized that I needed to get over that and just put myself out there.

@spacial: I'm glad you thought of it like that, I really just took a few webcam pics and decided on that one (some were terrible!!!). I have a decent older 7mp camera and some positionable lights, and I think I could do much better, I enjoy photography myself, even though I don't really have the talent for it.
