Happy Birthday You're Fired!!!

Say what?

I was terminated last night.

I had worked at this place for over three years and had two promotions.  I went from working as an associate to being a shift supervisor and then a senior shift supervisor.

I was being praised by both those under me and those above me right up to the termination.

In this economy, they will use any thing to get rid of personnel.  Is it personal, not in the way you might think.  It is generally not towards the person, it is personal because all they want is that bonus for controlling costs.  If they get rid of people they don't care for, so much the better.

I am not a big fan of unions, but it is economy the workers have to be protected.

Why?  Seriously... Why aren't you a fan of unions when unions offer workers the only real protection they have from the viciousness of the corporations.

I wonder why transsexual and transgender people spend so much time and effort on things like ENDA that really won't do much of anything for those at the lower end of the class structure.

The fight for Equality doesn't end with the protection of upper middle class people with degrees and professions.  To think it does is to over look the people most in need.

In this day and age there are people with degrees who are employed in the fire at will retail department and big box stores.

Unions could be the tool for enforcing ENDA.  Because without unions to back workers who are unjustly fired ENDA is pretty much meaningless.

Anytime you are forced to join something and then have your money taken from you, I am not in favor of.  And yes I have been part of unions.

Gee... Aside from that being a really right wing talking point.  That sort of begs the question of why should free loaders benefit from the collective bargaining efforts of unions?

Unions...  Those wonderful people who gave you the forty hour week.

My last word.  I will not debate the benefits or downfalls of unions.  And thank you for calling me a 'free loader'.  Gee I have only worked since I was 16.  14 if you count the newspaper.

Free loader is a union term for those who want the benefits without paying their dues.
