Tammy Hope

I dived in and changed it on Facebook with the announcement that i was retiring Laura and why...

and I have to say it was definitely the right move. Every time I use or hear or see in print the combination of "Tammy" with my family name i just grin, it feels exactly right.

might not be a good idea for everyone but I'm glad I went through with it.
Disclaimer: due to serious injury, most of my posts are made via Dragon Dictation which sometimes butchers grammar and mis-hears my words. I'm also too lazy to closely proof-read which means some of my comments will seem strange.

People kept pressuring me not to make it Kyle and I basically told them it doesn't matter what they think. I picked it from day one and if I even thought about changing it I'd get dysphoric.
Since this is about being yourself, its about what name YOU want. When you find the name you want for life, you'll know after a while. Well hopefully.

"I went through about 5 different names before I settled on one. I've legally changed my name twice (first time simply because I always hated my birth name, it was still girly though)"

I legally changed my name rather quickly because I had such distain for my given one as well. The name I have now is unisexual, and it suites well but I feel as I get futher along with changing, and becoming more comfortable myself I may have to change it again. Definately take your time, it will just save you time to be settled on the right name before you go around changing everything. Legally your allowed to use whatever name you want as long as it isn't for the purpose of fraud.
