Is it possible to maintain your female range on T? I figured we'd have an advantage on it over non-TS guys since they're so high to begin with. Has anyone tried this or known anyone who has successfully done it?

Curious. Actually, I'd like to keep it so I can have ridiculous range. If for nothing more than screwing with people. It would amuse me.

Hahahaha! That's probably the only reason why I would like to keep my female voice too (though I lack one in the first place).

I'm sure it's possible though, with enough practice and training maybe.

not quite i believe. your range will pretty much shift, after that you can still train your falsetto and reach a ridiculous range, but it's not the same as your natural range.

Yeah, I figured. If I can commit myself to it, I will practice the higher voice as I'm on T and see if I can make it.

I like to sing, so I tried to do this by practicing everyday singing into my highest ranges.  No luck.  I woke up one morning and my voice had dropped, and my range was gone.  With practice any singer can get a larger vocal range, but you don't get to keep those higher notes on T once your voice drops, and it tends to happen all at once.  You can certainly give it a try though!

It's not a big deal, I figured it wouldn't really work out too well. Thanks guys.

That I will.

What you're after is not range retention, but standard male training.  If you train as a male, you'll learn falsetto and chest-voice transitions.  You cannot, however, retain a voice.

While it is entirely possible that your enemy entertains some irrational prejudice against you, for which you bear no responsibility... have you entertained the possibility that you are wrong?

This is odd cause I was just thinking about this.

I was singing last night and pre-T I hated singing the girl's parts in songs cause I wanted to sing them like a normal guy would - by dropping the pitch, but I couldn't make my voice that low. But now I can, and if I try to squeak my voice cuts out. I have a new respect for mtfs now.

You could always sing in falsetto (sp?)

I wouldn't know though...heck, my voice cracked and dropped even when i went through female puberty. lol lucky me :D
