Lewis

I keep seeing this forum reccommended in various places so I decided to drop by and take a look. It looks good.

I'm a FTM from the UK, still pre-op and not yet on hormones, but I've seen a local therapist and I have a referral to London which will hopefully be early next year (long waiting lists on the NHS here).  I'm in an unusual situation - although I've known all my life that I should have been a boy, I didn't realise there was treatment available until I saw a TV programme in the mid 1990s. By this time I was already 30, married and a parent.

I decided to hold off making any moves towards transition until my daughter left school. Then when she did, I sort of chickened out, so I didn't really start things moving until March this year, at the grand old age of 43, when I went to see my GP. Since then it's been quite the rollercoaster, things going really well.

Best thing is that my partner and daughter have both been amazingly supportive, and so has my boss at work.

Looking forward to meeting new people here.

And a question - I can't figure out how to edit my profile, add info, a pic, a signature or anything. How do I do that?

Thanks. Often in FTM circles I feel a bit the odd one out, starting transition so late, when everyone else is young enough to be my son.

Hi Lewis,

I'm new myself, but that won't stop me from saying hello. I can rely to your waiting until your child was older. I can see myself being in my forties as well, before I even have the courage to go a next step.
Besides being concerned about your family and especially your daughter, what made you wait so long? Were you just terrified by the thought of going through with it? I'd really like to know, because actually my husband and I are planning a family. Which scares me. This is what we wanted to do for years now. And now, exploring my new self, I get second thoughts.
How did you feel towards "Lewis" inside of you, all these years? Did you supress it?

Hi, Lewis!

We're very glad you're here.

You have a whole lot going for you.  You're quite fortunate to have your family and boss' support.  That's great news.

Many of us here "came out to ourselves" later in life.  Get to know the other transguys here.  Kev and you might really hit it off.  You'll find Susan's Place accepting, courteous and informed.  We like to think we're THE transresource on the internet, especially for people seeking other people like themselves and/or information about themselves.

:)
Believe.  Persist.  Arrive.    :D
