This seems less like an attempt to kill the child and more like excessive violence that ended up killing someone, gender policing gone too far. And now a kid is dead. Transcript at the local news site.

That is an absolutely disgusting crime. I really look forward to a day when people like that young man no longer exist. His comment "one mistake, and I'm gonna do 20 years" sickens me. He didn't just make a mistake, he took a baby's life. He also says, "I never hit him that hard before." He shouldn't have been hitting the baby in the first place!

I think it would be more fitting if he got punched to death by a bunch of angry parents.

I think what he did to the baby should be done to him (that whole "eye for an eye" thing).  This is disgusting and I have a hard time believing someone can do this.  Especially to a baby.

How the hell does a 17 month act like anything other than a 17 month old? Up untill fairly recently history wise they didn't even have different clothes for boys and girls at that age... I just cant wrap my head around this.

Every time I see a small child like that I think small child not boy or girl... there is no inherent behavior at that age which suggests gender.. UGH!!!  I hope he fries, dies, and then roasts in hell.

A very sad story.  The video brought a tear to my eye.

What ever happened to hanging judges, heh, what we need to do, is the same as they did with horse thieves.

yup, you better hope you die quick, or you will be there a while.... He deserves that kind of punishment for killing a child....

He will get more than 20 years, and that is if he lasts that long.  Convicts have their own brand of justice.  And in this case the correctional officers may just turn their backs.

I can't imagine what he thought the child was doing that was so feminine.  Oh wait, maybe he's a pedaphile and blaming the victim.

This creep murdered a baby for not acting man enough!?!?!? What!?!?!? He couldn't just let the child be who they are!?!?!?

That idiot is going to hell in a handbag and I'm sure there will be plenty of wonderful folks in the prison to send his sorry ass there
