for those of you who started T, did you start balding?

Everyone

If so, how long after you started T did you start balding? And was there any hair product thing that helped stop it?

I'm sorry if I posted this in the wrong section, I couldn't figure out which would be more appropriate, so I posted it here. If I should move it, please tell me and I will.

I already had a very high hairline which changed somewhat after starting T.  I have not gone bald YET. LOL  My dad had a receding hairline and then later developed a bald spot.  I'm sure my turn will come.  Rather be bald than be F.

I don't know if you mean like REALLY balding or just hairline receding. I'm 19, my hair line changed from very round and low to completely male. I'm young so honestly I'm not really worrying about it yet and also the men in my family don't really go bald quickly.

My hairline shifted--I was happy about that--but then my hair kept falling out at an alarming rate. I kept getting all of these little short hairs all over my bathroom. I wasn't sure if my hair was just thinning out or if I was starting to bald (I couldn't see any balding areas). I hardly think all of this hair loss is still a regular hairline shift; it's been going on for over a year. I suspect that the shift is over and the effect I have now is an age-related receding hairline. My father had it, and my older brother does, too.

I'm a little sensitive about starting my transition in middle age, and I'm not prepared to deal with hair loss if I can help it. So I started Finasteride about five or six weeks ago. The doc said it would take three months to start working. So far no change. I just went to my barber today, and he commented that my hair still seems pretty thick. No bald patches that I didn't know about.

I was 46 when I started T, and I'm 48 now. My best buddy started balding in high school or college, though, so it can happen at any age.

Nope.  I've been on T for about 15 months, and my hairline has changed some, but I'm not going bald.  But then, my dad's hair is only starting to thin now, in his late 60's, and my mom's dad started developing a bald spot in his 50's, so hopefully I have a few years before I have to worry about it.

Nope but like jamie-o, my parents have a full head of hair and are over 65. I do have some thinning tho.

Sorry for the interruption...

I never understood why so many chaps worry about going bald - I personally find the bald look on a man gets me going like nothing else on earth - especially if combined with a nice well managed beard.

VERY SEXY!

PS. Luckily Alison shares my tastes so if there are any balding bearded chaps who would like a "two for one" deal on no hassle low maintenance UK girlfriends... ;)

Exactly, Jenny!

I plan to go bald gracefully if I bald.  Means I'm MALE!!!  Which was the whole point of all this.

i ve already got a male hairline and i'm pre everything. Looking at the way my brothers has receded i will say that if i ever get on T this decade theres a very good chance i'll have lost quite a lot of hair by the time i'm 50. But if thats what it takes to be male thats fine

I don't think the bald look suits everyone. I'd have to get rid of a few raised moles on my head if I ever lost my hair.

I like all my hair on my scalp. It's the same reasoning why I don't work out just to attract women, it's just something I want for myself. People have other tastes I'm sure and that's fine, but I have damn good hair and I want to keep it, lol.

Well, I have a small head, so I need more volume up there. And I sunburn easily and need the hair cover. And some men just don't have the right skull structure for baldness. I don't know if I do.

I forgot about the sunburns. I burn easily as well, so much so that tanning is dangerous for me.

I guess one could wear a hat.

Haven't started it yet and although I'm a little worried I know that my skull shape is decent, I used to keep my hair shaved to an 1/8". My father and my mothers father all have a full head of hair so I should be safe. But I agree some men look really hot bald or even balding just depends on the cut if they are balding.

Well, tanning is dangerous for everyone, whether they actually get tan or not.

Just as some men don't look so good bald, some people don't look right in hats (like me). I just stay out of the sun, period, but I slather on sunscreen every morning anyway because if I leave the house at all, I'm going to be exposed.

True. Some skin types handle it better, but my skin was never made to see much sun to begin with.

For our sake, let's hope we keep our hair.
