A new haircut, perhaps?

Hi! I want to explore my more boyish side, and I've dreamt of having short hair ever since I was a child and wore end-of-ribcage-length braids.

This is what I currently look like (literally; I took this pic an hour ago):

Here's an older image with me with my hair held back, to give a better view of my face:

And... yeah. What hair cuts do you guys think would suit me?

Some people have told me I have a boyish face. Do I?

i would say that you have a boyish face, like a young guy, i think that any haircut that is not too short would be good for you, it really depends in what you like though, this site could be helpful for you http://coolmenshairstyles.com/

You would look good in this hair cut, (referring to the guy with the black hair)

I would say find a barber or someone reputable in your area and talk to them about it. Explain what you're trying to do (you don't have to say you're transgender/transsexual but you can just say "i'm trying to look more masculine, i need a masculine cut.") Play around with lengths and styles - hair grows back. ^_^

You could try a medium ish length (shorter than what you have but not too short) and see how it goes. If you want shorter, you can always go back and get it cut again. The only thing i suggest is to NOT go too short - some "masculine" cuts can look "butch" on those with feminine bodies/faces and that'll give you the wrong look entirely.

The tough part will be finding a length and style that you like AND that helps pass. I've been to six different people to have my hair worked on in the past few months and i think i finally found a place i like. I also tend to do a little clipping myself when i get home, to fix things i notice after a day or two.

Here's an extra picture, without the glasses.

I don't think that I'll pass ever, mainly because, well, I have a large rear. And since I've never learnt to use my arms when walking, I swing my hips for compensation. I've tried to swing my arms when walking, but it just doesn't work. My lumps of tissue on the chest are pretty large as well, and difficult to hide. :(

I appreciate your advice, you're all very helpful. :)

You could probably pass for a young boy.

Ditto. I had a GHETTO ASS. It's melted away considerably from hormones. Not to mention... It really  isn't unheard of for a cisguy to have a nice ass, anyways. And yeah, you do have a boyish face(I think it's your eyebrow ridge:D). I second what FolkFanatic suggested, and of all things, I'd get rid of those bangs. In combination with that bob you've got this uber chic hipster/trendy girl thing going on. (Or guys do that too and the town I live in is decidedly uncool.)

Edit: I seemed to have deleted part of the post on accident when highlighting to make italics. Fixed.

Yeah, I look like Prince Valiant with this haircut...

Also, well, I've been "hiding" underneath girlyness for quite a while now. I hope that mother won't freak when I tell her I want really short hair...

I'm in my teens, would I pass for a teenage boy or for a 10-year-old?

Also, some pants are great at making my ass less noticeable. Baggy cargo-type pants in particular :) I'll see if I can badger mother into buying some cargo pants for me, my jeans are worn out and my old army pants too... All I have is a pair of woman's shorts, but at least they have lots of pockets...

What do you think of it? Does it look good on me? Dun' worry, criticize as caustic as you want to, I'm not that sensitive.

looks pretty good to me.

what I typed yesterday then deleted unposted was:   lose the length and the bangs and you'd look very much a guy.
..................................

on a separate note if you care to surf around for pix of the mid 60s onwards rock and pop singers when guys had lots of hair a lot of them did look quite androgenous - even Mick Jagger with his ugly face was passable female when crossdressed -  so to look a bit more male you guys need to think short hair.

You don't have to LOSE the bangs. Just see if they can make them a little choppy and then do the same with the rest of your hair. Think Surfer. Gives you some movement room as your bangs get a more masculine shape. Other than that, A haircut will seriously push your masculinity out there and boost it up tons.
