I hope this is the most appropriate board to post this, if not feel free to move it!

I'm really into music and my whole life I've turned to it for a variety of reasons. I just wanted to list a few my musical inspirations who could also be considered gender benders. I look up to them because they have the courage to just be who they want to be (and they also rock!).

#1 David Bowie - Can't even really put into words what I think about Bowie. He's so freakin' awesome!
#2 Joan Jett - Another person who's lived her life by her own rules. Awesome! And I can only hope I look as good as her when I'm in my 50's!
#3 Gerard Way - This guy ... he's taken a lot of slack for some of the stuff he's done but he's totally another one that lives by his own rules. Really inspiring dude with a great personality.

I'd be interested to hear any one else who has been inspired by any musicians.

Morrissey. Loved him (& The Smiths) for as long as I can remember, he's incredible and I finally got to see him live last year which was amazing.
