I was reading this
http://caloriecount.about.com/shoulder-width-ft137537
and It made me realize that at 18 inches across my shoulders aren't so out of the ordinary even for a natal female.

I meet women all the time with wider shoulders than me, and I'm pre HRT.
To dream of the person you would like to be is to waste the person you are.

I just measured myself and I am 15 inches on the outside from shoulder to shoulder and 12 inches from armpit to armpit.  I am 140 pounds and five nine.  Almost all the women I know have wider shoulders then me.

On campus the other day, I saw a gal with wide shoulders. My first thought: "Wow, I'll bet she's a swimmer."

I read somewhere that 17" is average for a woman. I'm sure you can get away with that extra inch :)

The women with broad shoulders are usually taller than me, but I see exceptions (not that I stare at everyone's shoulders).
I'm 5'5" and my shoulders just measured 16 inches, ~40cm for the metrically indoctrinated. Girl range? :icon_chick:

IMO yes! I'm 16.5" and 5'5" women my height are typically my width except for the really petite ones.

In this link, http://www.science.unsw.edu.au/news/average-women-more-attractive-than-centrefolds-study/ :

"The body shape with the most attractive measures is for a clothing size about size 14, with 101cm hip circumference (in imperial measure, about 40 inches)  77cm waist circumference (about 30 inches) and shoulder width of 43cm (about 17 inches). These dimensions are for a woman about 163cm tall (5 feet 4 inches), which is the average for Australian women aged 25-44 years."

I've never measured, but I think our shoulders tend to look less balanced because we lack hips (usually). I always had fairly strong shoulders, though phsycially I was never that big (172cms, 70 killos) With hormones I have lost some on my upper body so far and some weight (now about 65 kilos), and have a bit of a visible curve to my waist and that has made a lot of difference. I seem to be toned as ever which I think is hot. Still early days.

You can disguise wide shoulders to a certain extent - like wearing tops or dresses with spagetti strap, fitted tops that flair out a little near the bottom, and wearing short skirts with a bit of volume that fit snug at the waist can help.

I see what your say but my hips are 14 inches across so there only a 4 inch difference.

I'm 5'8 and happy to see I'm close to normal with 38 inch hips and a 30 inch waist around.
