CHESTER, Nova Scotia, August 20, 2010 (LifeSiteNews.com) - Canadian immigration officials have given an Irish man, who had sex change therapy in an effort to make himself a woman, permission to apply for refugee status. The man claimed he would be subjected to hate and his life would be in danger if he was forced to return to Northern Ireland.

Tanya (born Tim) Bloomfield, has 28 days to file a refugee claim after passing an eligibility interview and test on Thursday at the Halifax offices of Citizen and Immigration Canada, according to a statement made by immigration lawyer Lee Cohen.
