So, anyone else out there find that guys clothes are mostly boring? I mean, take shirts for instance ... you have maybe 3 styles of button-up shirts ... then you'd be lucky to find a cool pattern (I should also throw in there that you're lucky to find one that doesn't cost $100 or something from some hipster designer store). Mostly, you're stuck with utilitarian style solids or a plaid. Pants ... more boring. It has only been since the younger generation has made it "ok" to wear wacky color jeans again that it's even been remotely interesting. I got a pair of skinny, purple corduroy pants last year! Maybe it's just that I'm a little more ballsy and I go for stuff I like and that looks good on me (even if it might not be "classic" clothing)? I find that androgynous chick clothes are often more my style. Also, not being "average" dude height I have a problem finding stuff that actually fits me - especially jackets. There are some cool guys jackets but they never fit me. I guess that's another thing I can thank the "emo" generation or whatever they're calling them these days for - clothes that are a little tighter as opposed to everything oversize. There was a point in my life where I wore baggy pants and shirts and if I look at any pictures from that era I look freakin' TERRIBLE! *shudders* Seriously ... when you're short and you cover yourself in big oversize clothing you like like a midget drowning in fabric. Or you look FAT. Like HUGE. I know the need to camouflage is real, but there are other ways to do it.

So anyway, I'd be interested to hear what you guys think. I'd be especially interested in any guys who have found "hipper" stuff that's not outrageously priced. Oh and also, feel free to post image examples! I'd love to see what everyone else is digging.

Aww, I like the "boring" of guys' clothes. Then again, I am rather boring myself so it fits. Can't offer you help in finding more stylish clothes, sorry.

I definitely share the problem of not being average guy height, and shopping can get boring with the selections, so I do the same and get whatever looks good on me and alter my own clothes. For example, I'll buy a more fitted pair of jeans and make them into cut off shorts, which flows with the style here, and I'll wear them with a v neck (which I have in a vast variety of colors and styles) or a band shirt from hot topic or concerts. And I wear a lot of button ups too, but to detract from the boring-ness, I usually make an effort to wear an accessory like a hat (fedoras mostly) or a bandana.

Oh and as for the jackets, I found the perfect leather jacket lined with a hoodie, yesterday. I'm not a big guy and it fits me ridiculously well without looking like I put on my dad's lol

i have seen some majorly interestingly-dressed males... i once saw a pair of pink zebra-striped skinny jeans for example. my problem is that the brighter colors that usually make for more interesting looks just make me look like a girl. -_-'

you can probably find that kind of style in places like hot topic, they mostly sell for teens so you'll get smaller styles.

a lot of hipster-type bioguys wear really bright colors and graphic prints and other things. if you're looking for interesting t-shirts or artsy prints, threadless tees are a good place to start... in my case, the "boring" is pretty fitting for me. i'm into earth tones and soft, comfy things.

I have nothing against the guy clothes that are out there-- I subsist primarily on cargo pants and button-up/polo/T-shirts in varying (often BRIGHT) colors on a day-to-day basis. However, sometimes the selection is pretty limited. I like spicing things up with fun ties/scarves/bandanas/jewelry (male or female, doesn't much matter to me-- my earrings and necklaces are a mishmosh, gender-wise), bright colors, hawaiian shirts, vests (argyle sweater vests = favorite), etc. ...sometimes I'll even cross the gender boundary entirely and don a gypsy skirt or blouse (though that is obviously less of an option in situations where passing is necessary).

Colorful footwear is another thing I've found that makes my wardrobe more exciting. I've always loved colorful socks (I wear women's socks because they're more comfortable and colorful... and honestly, who cares what gender my socks were made for?), and I recently obtained a pair of purple Converse shoes, as well as some black tennis shoes which I immediately decked out with rainbow laces.

Aw. I think guys clothes are very fun. I'm a big BKE/Buckle fan myself though - and Obey has a great line of shirts with fun patterns and designs, not to mention they're comfy as hell. I'll also cruise the guy's side of Pac Sun too. They've got a lot of nice, bright shirts that add some pizazz to my life.

I'm big into plaid though and I wear argyle daily. I've found some pretty snazzy jeans made by BKE - they're like $75,  but very durable, so for me it's worth it. Especially since a decent pair of jeans is about $50 anyway.

And guys shoes are great. I've got small feet though 6 1/2 - 7 in Women's - so I fit into a 5 - 5 1/2 in Boys shoes. I just killed a pair of Shaq's and bought a nice pair of Echos.

Yeah I forgot all about mentioning accessories huh! I have a ton of different belts and things like that. I generally don't look that great in baseball hats but I have a couple beanie type hats I wear in the winter that work. I mostly stick with tennis shoes like converse chuck taylors, Macbeth, or vans. I have a cool pair of boots but I have no idea what brand they are.

I do try and check out stores like Urban Outfitters, Pac Sun, Hot Topic, etc. I'll check out the BKE jeans.

Oh and I love threadless.com! I have a TON of wacky t-shirts. I can always find cool t-shirts. It's the regular shirts/pants/jackets that seem to the the big issue.

I always liked men's clothing I don't find it boring at all especially with ties and hats. I love getting a really stylish hat.

Kinda stuff I wear:

American Apparel is good for small sized guy clothes in good colours.  It's a bit expensive sometimes though and pretty hipster, but I like the basics.  I also go thrift shopping heaps, find crazy stuff there, and bother my dad for his old clothes from the 60s/70s.  I think I'm building up a pretty good male wardrobe that isn't boring.

I really like my selection of guys cloths. The only time I have a hard time finding anything good is when most of the store doesn't fit me. But there are places that are geared more towards smaller guys and I can find better fitting clothes.

But yeah. I usually wear various kinds of jeans or shorts and am pretty happy with my variety of polos button ups and Tees. I also have a a bunch of caps and fedoras and such. Belts, scarves and jackets too. 

I think it really depends on where you shop because some stores do have lousy selections.

I don't like looking boring either.  I go for an androgynous guy type of look, and put some creativity into it.  I have good luck finding interesting clothing for not much money at thrift stores, yard sales, and flea markets because I spend enough time looking to stumble upon the good stuff.  So far, I've also had the good fortune of being given hand-me-downs from cis guys - usually stuff that's cool but doesn't fit them or something. 

I agree about the tight pants thing.  I've always liked tight jeans because they're comfortable, and I don't like the way baggy pants look on me.  It is nice that stretch jeans are easy to find nowadays.  It kind of sucks that they're now so strongly associated with whatever's currently known as "emo" because that's not the look I'm going for, but it's fairly easy to avoid looking "emo" via whatever else you're wearing.

Also, I like the fact that the variety in men's clothing is often more subtle.  I seek out unique patterns and textures so that even when I dress in a more traditionally masculine way, it's not exactly boring.

I quite like boring clothes, but maybe that's just me. I like clothes that don't become dated and last for ages. There is a shop in the UK called Primark that's extremely cheap and sells some horrifically bright clothes.

Idk if you have access to Topman but they sell some wacky stuff and in very small sizes.

The flamboyant side of me does find most guy clothes kind of boring.  Although I'm currently avoiding wearing anything even remotely non-masculine, until I get on T and can pass better. 

I did go poke around stores today to see what I could find. My favorite thrift store is closed on Sundays. Still, I rarely find stuff there. I usually just come up on cool vintage non-clothing stuff there! So I ended up at Ross (not sure if they have those in other countries but it's a big U.S. thing in most states). So I found some burgundy Levi's 510 skinny jeans there for $13.99. I'd call that a major score! (they're these ones: http://store.fashify.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/02/levis-jeans-shoe-1.jpg - which retail for $52) and I got this white belt for $7.99. So not bad.

@Alexmakenoise Yeah I wouldn't really call my look "emo" (for one, I don't do fluorescent colors lol!) but I'm thankful that it brought skinny jeans to the market. I think if you can rock 'em, they can be kind of a "mod" look too or just generally a nice pair of jeans to go with anything.

I want clothes that would cost a bunch of money because I find normal clothes that you would find at Wal-Mart pretty boring....though I'd put on a nice pair of jeans with some sort of decorated t-shirt and throw on a nice hat and a scarf to spice things up.  I can't pass for anything, though, so I have no idea how it really looks.

Skinny jeans and I don't mix - they make my legs look huuuuuge. But I manage to keep some flair going thanks to BKE. I've got a sweet pair of BKE Carters that have some great white accents.

Buckle's expensive, but they've got great sales every once in a while. I've gotten $75 jeans for $13.

I actually really like guy's clothing.  It's great to wear them and it still gives me a little thrill.  I'm not naturally inclined towards to much flash so what I wear works just with me.  I'm with Alex on choosing an androgynous look for the most part.  Tho I think I probably go a bit more plain then he might choose from his description.  Somehow I feel if I dress in two bright of colours I might stand out to much and have people give me second glances I don't want.  Perhaps when I pass a bit better I might get a pink or purple button down shirt.  Real men wear pink right?     

I wouldn't mind one little bit being dressed like a traditional male with a suit and a tie.  I can't afford a decent suit right now so I'm holding out on that.  Right now I tend to go for tight shirts and tighter fitting pants.  I know that doesn't do my hips any favours but I just feel more comfortable wearing them.  Tight shirts are nice because it shows off the little muscle I am starting to gain.  I get a lot of my clothing from a second hand store called Plato's Closet.  It caters to the younger set so I can normally find something there that suits me.  In shirts at any rate.  I have a strange jeans size so I have to buy those off the rack.

   

I like to wear clothes thats somewhat interesting with designs or funny sayings. I mostly wear black shirts but I do have a few blue ones, a couple red and like...one green shirt.
