Ball Memorial Hospital will begin mandatory training for its employees with regards to the needs of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender individuals. The training stems from the way in which Erin Vaught was treated by the BMH Emergency Department on 18 July. She came in coughing up blood, but rather than being treated, she was mocked, called an 'it', and 'he-she'. On 5 August, the hospital launched an internal review of the hospital's policies.

Involved in the plan to improve services were representatives from the Indiana Transgender Rights Advocacy Alliance, Indiana Equality, and Ball Memorial Hospital. They made the announcement Tuesday. Vaught, who has not released what was wrong but is apparently doing fine, has stated "I'm happy with the outcome. I think that we reached a positive resolution."

Oh fly over states. Would you kindly do us a favor and secede from the union?
