She gave me a couple she liked and that was the last i hard.... When we r out i am referd to as dean... But i wouldnt like it was a full time name.. also its only really my older sister and best friend who does that, anyways do u guys think it would have been best if i changed it before hand.. I think the sooner you change your name the better because thats a sign that you are RLE.

I've had my first appoinment there and my second is on the 2nd of sept. I saw Dr Lorimer, he was really nice. Pretty much the first things he asked was what I wanted from them  top surgery, T etc and how long i'd been presenting as male he asked to see my statutory declaration.

He asked me about the usual childhood stuff, my mum came with me so that was very helpful because I don't remember alot of stuff from my childhood. He asked about puberty and how that made me feel. He asked if I used to bind or wear baggy shirts to hide the moobs. The questions that I expected. He also asked if I tried to be a butch lesbian.

I wasn't asked as many questions as I expected, I thought it was going to be really complicated but I was relieved at how easy it was.

I might update this a little bit after my second appoinment.

Get your name change ASAP for your RLE. Preferably before you go to Charring Cross.
This website does it for free and since you print it out yourself you can get it quicker than a deed poll service that you pay for. It's completly legitimate and legal, the essential part is the signatures of yourself and your witnesses.

Good luck with your appointment Hazard, and yours Nathan.

Defintiely get your name changed as soon as you can. My appt at Charing Cross is April (I have Dr Lorimer too), by which time I'll be 9 months on my new name.

When I was changing my name I ended up converting my original middle name into a male name (so you can probably guess what that used to be, lol) and for my middle name I took my grandfather's name. Once when I was a kid I asked my mum what she would have named me if I'd been born a boy, but I sort of half-tried that name for a while and in the end I decided I didn't like it.

It definitely is difficult to choose a name and adapt to one...  I've tried very many but for about four or five years I had been being called Vincent in many circles online.  I didn't really realize until recently that I'd been looking all over the place for a name but had already started to get used to Vincent and all of its shortened versions, which always was a concern for me as people always shorten names.  (i.e. if you're Michael, they will most likely call you Mike).

So, to make a long story short, it sort of snuck up on me.  I don't feel 100% sure and committed but it makes sense, and it feels pretty right.  I guess I've never felt "right" so I wouldn't know.

Subscribed to you on youtube, you are very articulate and intelligent in your video, I wish you the best of luck and will be following you.

I got all keyed up when I was trying to pick a name. Part of me wanted to keep the same initials. In the end, I went with the same name I had started using in high school, almost twenty years earlier! I didn't pick that name because I liked it; it's more like it picked me when I was close to your age. Sometimes you just know it when you see it. Pick a name you like, but go with your gut.

Oh, and try to anticipate any weird nicknames people might come up with. Even a name you like can be a problem if people start torturing it into something irritating or obscene.

Good luck on your appointment, Hazard. I know you've been waiting a long time for it.

I'm a bit confused about how to do the whole name change thing. Can the witnesses  be anyone or do they have to be people in certain professions, and is the deed poll from that website recognised by the passport and driving license people? Do banks accept the deed poll as well?
