Today I don't feel that great so I've just been mindlessly surfing the web ... you know how you start with one topic and then it just mutates and expands and then a couple hours go by and you've gone on this wacky internet journey of sorts.

Anyway, I thought it would be interesting to post some of the things I came up on today. Some of the stuff below could probably be posted in other areas of the site but I'm putting it here because I got a lot out of just the general information here and was able to relate it to my life as being male in a mostly female body. Sometimes, for me, just knowing that there is so much variation in the world helps me to realize that there is nothing actually wrong with me.

http://www.goaskalice.columbia.edu/2892.html - this is a post from a guy (biomale) with "wide hips" lamenting that fact and Alice's answer I thought was very good. There's been some times where I have gotten self conscious over the hips I do have and I try to remember that there are lots of biomales out there with hips and it's not that big of a deal - only if you make it one.

http://frank.mtsu.edu/~phollowa/5sexes.html - this article talks about how in nature there are more than just two sexes and goes on to talk about interex.

http://dodsonandross.com/blogs/christina-cicchelli/2009/12/sex-change-without-operation - interesting research done on mice. The implications for humans are pretty huge.

http://www.newsweek.com/2007/11/08/off-their-chests.html - interesting article about a condition where men grow breasts. They threw out a statistic about how nearly 50% of men can experience it in their lifetime. Kind of gave a whole new perspective on "moobs". Also, made me realize that if I stop to look around when out and about I do see a number of guys who kinda got the moob thing going on and no one really gives them a second glance.

i kinda love your threads... and it's very true what you say. i have to admit that most problems i have with my body are generally more cosmetic. like i'm not able to match the standards i personally set for my appearance. but that has nothing to do with being male/female/whatever.
i grew up not giving a f*** about gender, hence i somehow managed to ignore that my body is unmistakable female. for me, it just isn't (do i make sense? guess not).
problem is, i can't keep that up when i'm lacking clothes.... but for everyday life it's good enough, so i don't feel the urge to change something right now. though i really hate that i have to put a shirt on when having breakfast on my balcony^^

Whoaaa nice find on the mice thing  :o. I find that incredible!
I remember seeing somewhere that they could make penises out of stem cells tested on mice as well (awesome for us FTMs) but if you could get testes too? That'd be just perfect! No more needles! Any who maybe I'm getting a tad excited but thanks again for the find on that article.

JFK had small moobs because once he got on serious politicking with lotsa dinner functions to attend and his bad back keeping him from serious exercise and there is a pix of him and family in a rowboat and as he's leaning forward his moobs showed quite strongly so its said he ordered his gang to make sure all such pix were edited out.

@Meepit I know, right? It was pretty interesting to say the least. I hope I live to see some crazy advances in science that break down gender barriers.

@lilacwoman ha! I'm sure there's been many other "in the public eye" men who have had their moobs banished from print!

Yeah, I definitely feel like I'm in good company when I can compare myself to my partner, a cis-man.  He's got a fantastic set of moobs (>A-cup), and his hips are definitely wider and more shapely/curvy.  And he's read as male almost all the time.  (-;  Thanks for sharing these articles!
