I spent a good hour today going through zappos.com, shoes.com and several other places. I found a couple things I liked. I was kinda into this brand: http://www.zappos.com/blundstone-bl063-black And they did have the smaller sizes (I can do anything from a 6.5 - 7.5 in women's size 5-6 in men's). I really wanted something simple and classic like this http://www.zappos.com/hush-puppies-gain-black-leather?zlfid=111, these http://www.zappos.com/product/7671489/color/72 or these http://www.zappos.com/product/7671559/color/72 but of course the smallest size was a men's 7. I've seen kind of that style in women's but the heels are usually higher and the toes go more narrow (and I have a wide foot).

I've also had a pair of docs for years and they're uncomfortable with very hard soles and they take forever and a day to break in and they're expensive and I hate the yellow thread around the sole LOL.

I'm that awkward size (6-7ish) that's rarely found in brick-and-mortar stores in either boys' or men's sections. Combine that with delicate skin that blisters at the first hint of uneven pressure or slippage, so buying online just isn't possible because I have to try on 30 different pairs of shoes in 3 different sizes each before finding a pair I think I can wear...I have a hell of a time buying shoes.

I've given up even caring much about style. Skate shoes aren't attractive, but they're soft (reduces blister problems) and lightweight and have rounded toes that don't pinch, so I just wear black Vans or DCs, have for over a decade. Nobody ever says anything about them, they're like the invisible shoe. I've recently bought a pair of nondescript molasses-brown loafer things that I wear when I want to look more put-together, and I've had a pair of Docs for a long time that I don't like to wear because they're heavy but I will if it's particularly rainy. And that's about it. Shoes are an expensive way to be stylish...I'd rather just get more shirts.

If you guys think DMs are uncomfortable, you should try New Rocks.  I change into my DMs to give my poor old feet a rest.   But, ooooh..

I really enjoyed reading this thread, when it comes to clothes guys and girls really are different, I haven't worn guys clothes in 25years, everybody to their own but if Id only 3pair of shoes I think Id have a panic attack lol, I love my shoe collection, last time I did a count it was around 40pairs and gaining, guy's clothes are boring, in the last 5years I don't know how many dresses and outfits Iv bought, I absolutely adore shopping and fashion, only yesterday I bought a gorgeous purple lace dress now I'II have find a purse and shoes to match, but I think I have slingback sandals to match, guy's clothes never have the same excitement and fashion appeal, in other words mostly boring.

I love shoes. But I'm very fortunate here, in that I wear a US Men's size 9, which is easy to find. A little small for a guy of my height but not remarkably so. So I don't have much practical advice for guys with smaller feet; but going to the boy's section is a really good idea. Also, a lot of shoemakers do unisex styles for boots, and there are a lot of women's boots that are unisex/male in design, they're just cut for smaller feet.

I think the reason guy's clothing is perceived as boring is because many guys don't care about clothes. So if you want interesting clothes as a guy you have to work a lot harder, whereas ladies can just walk into any store and it's all there for them.

I actually had mad shopping success today. Totally stoked. Got a new hoodie and long sleeve shirt at hot topic then got some killer black skinny jeans at TJ Maxx (only $16.99!) and a different style of long sleeve shirt. At target I managed to pick up some gray jeans, a purple v-neck t-shirt and a white studded belt. I feel like I won the lottery getting that much stuff in one trip

Mmm.  Those Demonias are defintely going down the New Rock route.  I would guess the main difference will be that New Rocks are leather and Demonias tend to be made in manmade materials.  Good for those who don't like wearing leather. 

And the ones with the buckles and platforms can be got with flatter, more butch soles.  I have these ones and they are surprisingly easy to walk in.  And they add a very welcome 6 inches to my puny height.

And the great thing about both Demonias and New Rocks is that the unisex styles come in all sizes.

Oh, and the secret to wearing New Rocks is either thick walking socks or good, soft insoles.  And the advantage of wearing New Rocks on a regular basis is that it is like wearing ankle weights.  Those huge, rubber soles really gives you butt and thighs a workout.  Buns of steel!

I have really muscular calf and thigh muscles, I wonder if that's from wearing boots like that for so much of my life never occurred to me before

Yea I like a bargain. I like TJ Maxx, HT, Khols and Target. Oh if you're looking for some T's, check out http://www.6dollarshirts.com/t-shirts/  The silk screen quality is kinda hit or miss, but they're $6 so meh. You can get plain ones for $3 too.

I would like them to have a bit more selection (In England I have never come across a shop purely dedicated to guys clothes) but for me I would JUST LOVE to go out and buy guys clothes!
My friends always take me shopping and I always end up browseing the men's clothes.
I love the feel and everything, I wish I could take some home but my mum would find it for sure.
She went crazy when she found by boxers a year ago, and I did'nt even know I was FtM then!

I'm sure when I guy clothes shop for the first time, I will enjoy clothes shopping for the first time too.

Argent, there are some men's clothes shops in the UK (Burtons, Topman, Moss etc).  But, to start off on this clothes-buying thing, I recommend Primark, particularly if you live near a large branch (the Oxford Street one is my second home).  They offer jeans from a 28" waist (and don't forget that chaps wear their jeans lower on their hips than do women so that is small enough for the tiniest female form).  And I have found that I can take handfuls of their men's clothes into the women's fitting rooms (I don't pass) and no one bats an eyelid.  And, being so cheap, you can make a few mistakes as you search for your proper look.

And Primark do "boy shorts" in their female underwear section.  A way to wear man-styled undies that would pass your mother's scrutiny, perhaps?

I've got pretty huge feet for being so short, men's size 9 to 10, depending on the shoe.  I could definitely use something to make me taller!  I'm shorter even than some of the women around me.

If you come across a Slaters then it's well worth a look. Most of their shops are in the North and Midlands. They sell mens casual wear (including brands like Ben Sherman) and formal wear. The only womenswear they sell is formal stuff. It's kinda like a small department store of mostly menswear. And they do free alterations on things like trousers and sleeves. Just my opinion but it's a nicer shopping experience than somewhere like Topman, which is always packed and some of the staff are up their own arses.
