I am a 51 y.o.mtf pre op. just starting HRT. My body is slim, athletic, handsome and strong. I engage in many action sports and am somewhat of a thrill seeker. Everything a typical male could ask for, except for my female brain. How much will my attitudes change as I feminize my body?  Of course my strength will decrease but what about my coordination?

Hiya, well I'm 51 and started my transition at 48. I run 6 miles every other day (well I did up to having surgery six weeks ago, lol) I plan to get back into running in two weeks time when I'm aloud too, hehe. I love it and have run in some charity runs so far but my ambition is to do a marathon. I only started running two years ago. I can now run 6 miles in 45 minutes, not bad for me (well I could before my SRS/GRS, lol).

So it will be a question of continued exercise, yeah, things will change but in new way and a good way.

Jennifer.

May I suggest that the only change that matters is if you become happier and more contended with your life?

The effects of hormone therapy or surgery are variable. There's a lot of information on here, from people who have done this.

But at the end of the day, it's about you.

Well, I am co-ordinated as ever. Though lately have noticed a bit of a shift in center of gravity downwards , in a practical sense it has made no difference to me.

In fact in some ways I am more co-ordinated. I'm a drummer and have noticed an improvement in my co-ordination and playing with no loss of power.  I suppose that could just be practice. That is the thing, if you practice you will get better.

not sure what happened to lilac  ??? You should get that looked at honey. I guess if your implants got too big it would overbalance you  ;)

Attitude is hard to say. Not that much I think. Anecdotally a lot of us change our interests, we might become more sociable, emotional. I know one trans woman who did iron man events and got better times after transition, she just worked hard at it.

You know you can be a strong athletic woman, the best kind in my opinion! My only advice is you should invest in some sports bras once you start getting boobs.

I've been on HRT for three months and haven't noticed a loss of coordination, but I definitely have less strength.  (I was never especially coordinated to begin with, though.  Actually, I think it may have improved, but I think that's due to less anxiety.)

One issue I've started having is breast tenderness.  I tried to jog about twenty feet a couple of days ago, and every step felt like a little flare in my breasts.  They're not even developed enough for a bra to make much difference, and they don't bounce hardly any.  It's just the slightest bit of movement can make them sore on some days.  I imagine if you're an athlete, you could easily ignore the levels of discomfort I'm feeling, but I've heard it gets worse.  Fortunately, it's not a life-long thing, just some soreness from growth.  Yay for second puberty! :)
