Just curious here never done this but have considered it.... some hospitals have a prosthetic maternity device so a husband can better understand what there wives are going though.... Get the idea? The device we have in our hospital is designed to be worn a full week and will simulate breast and stomach growth, the male participant will start out some where around 6 months and by the end of the week be at full term, now the device can begin at around three months and go full term over a full term meaning it could be worn months on end. I suppose a T couple could use the device and coordinate it with an adoption. Now that would be cool.

Something to do with um, 'blunt termination'. You know, good for sex (something I really do not care about) and not much else. ... Kind of annoys me, ya know? Thankful mind, but annoyed nonetheless.

I fail to see the point of pretending to be pregnant. You know, being reminded AGAIN about being different and an approximation physically.

But, *shrug* I have been called pragmatic before and with good reason so that may have something to do with it.

It is not a bad idea mind you, just not my cup of tea is all.

I suppose the point is that a half measure for some is better than none at all.  Yes it's a reminder of certain limitations, if you choose to look at it that way, but it is also better than nothing for many.

I belong to a list for elder transgendered people and one of the member's signatures seems to apply here: "No sense being pessimistic, it wouldn't work anyway."

Hugs & smiles (nice to see you writing again, Kimberly!)

Hiee,

I can see the reasoning behind this and for someone intending to adopt a NEW born baby and looking for the maximum feelings of maternity it would make perfect sense to me.

My point exactly, my other point being that of a total "womanhood" experience of being pregnate, these prosthetic devises are top of the line at 5,000 each they should be, they have a small computer that will simulate baby movement kicks a heartbeat they are amazing. Wearing the device for 4 months experiencing all the joys and trials of maternity would in my opinion truly develop maternal feelings that only a woman could know, thus bringing an otherwise unattainable womanly characteristics to light.

I simply pray they don't also simulate the agony of childbirth upon completion of the device.

I have seen these they are actually cool!  You add water to them at intervals to simulate the breast and stomach growth and weight transfer and all that!
I personally would not want to be on the 9 month program in my current state?  But had i been a natal female "uggghhh like i was supposed to be then it would be natural!"

Well I did it at least for 24 hours over the holiday nobody was working in the birthing lab so for my full shift (24 hours) I simulated about 4 months pregnate for my hight and weight my tummy or breast were not real obvious but the high I was on was incredible :)

I did get a few odd looks from a few staffers but all was good I only had about 10 patients and none gave me a second look. I did fill it up to the 9 month levels after work motored about the lab for about 20 minutes before taking it off. I think I am going to try it again over new years at the 5 or 6 month levels :)

No 24hrs was not quite long enough to get the back hurting but I could feel it was coming, the kicking part does not start until after the 5 month mark, and now that you mentioned it, it was a little difficult getting up from a chair, did not think about it at the time, I was having such a rush a day :) I will pay more attention this weekend, I am working a double that means 48 hrs we do get to sleep on the job :) I am hopping the lab is not working Friday so I can do the full 48....... :)

So I am totally freeqed out, I get this text on my phone, "I know what you did last last weekend be in my office @ 7am Karen OB lab" now you know why I'm freeqed OK I get to the lab promptly at 7am thinking I am in big trouble, Karen greets me at the door come in Cindy have a seat, OK she knows about my transitioning not a huge secret at work mainly my immediate co-workers. She continues I noticed you had one of our simulators on last weekend care to share? so I tell her the whole story no lies I figure if I come clean it will be good :) well it was, she tells me as a employee I can use the simulators anytime for as long as I want.  ???  ??? really sure all you had to do was ask, but I understand your reservation's, are you still interested? why YES very interested, (I see a story line here) she says well lets get you setup. She sets me up to about 3 1/2 - 4 months, she gives me her home address and cell# and tells me to stop by tomorrow and to bring all my "girl" stuff ??? she ask about when the next I work, I tell her I am working a double over the holiday, a double usually means just overtime but a double over a holiday means your next work day you get off and I timed it with my days off so after my double I was going to be off almost 9 days. So here I sit at my computer about 4 months pregnate contemplating the next 2 weeks. ;)

Wanting to pretend to be pregnant is something I've never really understood, but to each their own I always say. I just feel that the miracle of carrying a child and giving birth was given to the GG's for a reason and is better left with them, we have our own role to share in the process. Now if they can only come up with a prosthetic device that will put your kid through college for you...

OK so maybe this was not one of my better ideas. Karen has me at 7 months thats 18 pounds of water the realism is remarkable the moving and kicking is a pain especially at 3am. My 48hr shift went well, lots of second looks but nothing else. I suppose if the process occurred over the full 9 months it would be different, I promised my BF I would not back out no matter what.... about one more week to go, I will have between 25 and 30 lbs of water the last few days, the back pain while standing is THERE. The sex is still GREAT ;) Stay Tuned.....
