I just found Evangeline Ghastly dolls - (google 'em for more images)



I love displaying more "grownup" dolls on our shelves / curio cases.  I so want one of these!! 

'I won't to be happy but my eyes don't want me'...lol

However I have to fess-up to a sneaky regard for dolls a tad more animated.....aka Dita Von Tesse

The BJD (ball joint doll) is a fantastic type of doll if you like the Japanese / Anime look. I'd have a few myself if it wasn't for the nearly $1,000 price tag that comes with the 'lower' end of the market.

I've looked into buying and assembling/painting some 1:8 scale resin garage kits, and have enjoyed finding / assembling other display-quality dolls / figurines. The pricetag for preassembled ones is rather steep but I really enjoy the creative process of taking the parts / blank slate and applying the paint, shading, washes, airbrushing, etc. 

I think I was reading a post from you earlier and looking at your avatar actually led me to find Evangeline up above.

We have a kool TV station in the UK called Channel4....

They did a documentary series on sexuality, which included men whom choose to bond with ponies....(nope really they did no joke)....

And another one was about men and there 'adult' dolls these films were truly fascinating....

This is such a cute movie.  Of course I cried (I always do -- I cry in Die Hard, Star Wars, Mulan, you name it I'm a boob.)

Ooh, Rayalisse showed me the Evangeline Ghastly dolls(don't float my boat), and the same dollmaker has a line called Ellowynne. Funny, very beautiful teenage goth/emo dolls. 16" ball-jointed. They are amazing. Although I never really played much with dolls, I've always liked them. I have quite a collection of porcelain dolls. I really should get them out of storage now that I know Rayalisse doesn't mind if I display the in our bedroom. Lol!

I would love an Ellowynne doll! When I was 12, and my younger sister 6, my mom got us "American Girl" dolls. I seriously had to beg for one. She thought I was getting too old to play with dolls.  I never really did play with her. She was my model. I was fascinated with historical period fashion and my doll was the one from the victorian era. My sister had one that was a Swedish pioneer. I was learning to sew and I adored making period doll clothing. I made everything down to "boned" corsets for our dolls. For Chrismas, when I was 15, I gave both my little sisters a huge wardrobe of doll clothes. I still made, but sold doll clothing to a boutique when I was 20. Then, at 21, I switched to baby and little girl clothes and could finally show off my hobby in a big way :-) I still love to sew, but it's mainly home-decor stuff these days(pillows, curtains). I'd love to go to town with an Ellowynne doll and my scrap fabric bins.

Add "Legally Blonde" to that list. ;-) Rayalisse really is such a boob. I rarely cry at movies, books, etc, but then I was raised by a severely over-emotional mother who used her "feelings" to manipulate and control her children. Nobody wanted to be the reason to set off Mom's waterworks, especially in public. Her extreme touchy-feely over-emotional BS REALLY turned me and all 5 of my siblings off to emotional displays, whether public or private. I'm worried what Hormone therapy could do to Rayalisse. I know it's my own issue, not hers, but I have such a hard time handling emotional displays of any kind, but especially blubbering. Lol!

Oh my, there's a topic close to my heart. I didn't grow up with dolls, so I've come to appreciate them as an adult. It must have started after I joined Second Life, as I basically lived that life as a doll and found out about BJDs and such afterwards.

Ball-jointed dolls like Super Dollfie have the power to mesmerise me, and I've longed for ages to own an Evangeline Ghastly. I reckon my passion only waned because I realised dolls were my coping mechanism; I would collect images, browse enthusiast galleries and dress up my digital doll in ways I thought I could only imagine for myself, a little sad because I could never afford a doll of my own. I do keep finding doll-themed alt. fashion shoots though, and those are quite something. Mmm, dolly Mosh...

I try not to consider them an ideal, but damnit, they just are - in a romantic sense, of course. Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence has a pretty eye-opening perspective on dolls and the human ideal. One day I would like to own one, as I think dolls above all else have brought out my more gothic, passionate side.

I always keep an eye on the dolls that wind up in the movies / television programs we watch - Set dressers really use dolls to set the mood -- for example the old abandoned, dirty baby doll dressed in a few rags, off in the corner of the room of the old house...  or hanging from a nail in the garage...

Sinnyo - I think you're right, dolls have been a way for me to cope with dressing in a fantasy world vs what I can actually get away with on my own body.  By the way, I love the images on your blog.  Victorian Steampunk Lolita done right is H-O-T.

Tell me about it. When I've gotten comfortable enough with my body and the way I dress, I will be all over that.

I hadn't really thought about dolls as a mood-setter. I shall have to keep an eye out, 'cos I'm sure that including dolls in the décor of my own place would be great fun.
