That is aviation allright. The medical condition of pilots is taken very seriously because of the great work pressure and responsibility they have to deal with. Everything that could possibly influence the capability of a pilot is under investigation, at times it is quite obnoxious.
In my case I have to pass a medical check each year and a full check each 5 years. Each time I have to fill in and sign a large form covering all possible things: from suicide attempts to recurring diseases in the family. Fun fact is that the data on my sex was incorrect after my first checkup. I was checked in Spain and without thinking I marked the box next to (M), not realizing that M stands for "Mujer" and not for "Male". How could they possibly miss that?
A recurring joke in aviation is: "I am from the FAA, and I am here to help"
