Am I being to sensitive about this? I couldn't even believe they put it on tv.

It is sad when tv is a reflection of society. Which in this case may be so as it reminds of Nikki Araguz.
But on the other hand, the people at the bar seem initially supportive (apart from the horrible choice of words) and don't understand why he makes such a fuss about it. Mac is the person who is made fun of, not the others.

Then again, I don't know the show and only saw these 2 minutes.

I am on the fence.  It was humorous to a point.  The use of words in a derogatory fashion was irritating.  But they were making fun of the idiot.

Did not mind it really at all, I've watched the show in the past and watched this last night with my friends. The point of the characters in this show is to make them unlikeable. Every episode they are made to be stupid, inconsiderate, and even offensive. That is the point of the show and the characters. We have to remember that no single group, or issue is off limits to comedy and satire, and it is best to try not and get up in arms about the material in it because it does no good. The satire of the show was that it made the main characters (Mac specifically) to come across as the stupid ones. If anything it showed the flaws of main characters (Mainly jealousy by Mac) and did not at all portray the transgender girl and her husband at all in a bad way. They came off as the normal and decent ones in comparison to Mac, Dee, Charlie, ect... which is usually the case with this show regardless of the subject matter. These people are idiots, that is the consistent element of every episode... they do not change for the better.

Have to say I've never heard of this show. But the replies suggests that this is a prelude to the guy, making all the fuss, later accepting that he is gay.

While I don't like that they all use the word "->-bleeped-<-", the guy who was worked up about the marriage was still obviously the butt of the joke, so it didn't really get to me. I was actually surprised that they made a point of referring to the "->-bleeped-<-" as a "her", "she", and "a girl" and showed a majority vote that the relationship wasn't homosexual. It seems like a step in the right direction IMO.

I saw part of the show because I tuned in late and then dozed off... But yeah, the show isn't so much about making fun of the subject matter... (In this case gay and/or transgender marriage)... But more about making fun of the ignorance of various facets of main stream society regarding various issues

So of coarse the main characters are going to portray a bunch of idiots... I also agree that the trans woman and her husband were portrayed as the cool people

None the less, if ANYONE said that to me, I would come down on them like a world of hurt. I do find that very VERY offensive!

Rather ironically... I was watching this show on the TV in dah hotel room late last nite too....here in AZ.... it then was on again as a repeat?

It's sorta sharply scripted in a 21st century 'Cheers' bar updated way.... and the ->-bleeped-<- bits a tad misleading as the woman cast playing her just seemed like a typical hard-bodied gym freak ab-pack GG anyways....

And I thought the plug thang was a hilarious scene...but then not being a bible-belt Christo type.... the whole gay marriage according to the rules of the Lord all loonie-tunes to me personally....

Stereotypes are always used as vehicles in comedy as they're a lazy short-hand..... as everybody 'gets' them....even dah ficko's innit...

Does this offend me personally.....no?

Will society always remain bigoted, reptile like and tribal...... definitely....even if the packaging tries to be PC'ish or states something otherwise....

And here's a tip if you're the very way sensitive type pre transitioning....think wisely before you do.... as you need ovaries of glinting steel to get through all that we need to achieve..... no really you do!

I got a small clue about some folks at work and their attitudes today...

One of my coworkers sent an email to me and another, which contained a series of pictures of couples (two women), and the pictures were from some sort of "Ladyboy" convention (that word was on every picture), and at the top of the email, it said "See if you can tell which one of each couple is the 'guy'".  The punch line:  They BOTH were, in every picture.  Ha, ha.  Of course, these were not transsexuals, they were ->-bleeped-<-s, a very different thing entirely, but still.  A female coworker who received the email reacted thusly:  "Gross.  Oh, that is so gross, isn't it?"  Okay, so now I know there's more than a little transphobia in the office.  That'll be useful information when I get to the point of going public...

Um, I'm not crying about it, I just didn't think it was funny, and not knowing much about the show found it to be disrespectful.

Honestly, if you've ever seen any other episodes, they portray the protagonists as terrible, terrible people who couldn't exist in the real word.
