Hi there,  I'm doing my m2f and wondered about the experience of others.  I've tried the meds twice and I get the same problem each time. After 15 days my testes just get really sensitive and ache.  The first time was just androcur on its own, and last month I went onto Progynova  really low doses.  Also I get impotence from day one.  So, I'm either the world's most sensitive person to these meds, or I'm just being a bit naive and it's gonna hurt a bit?

It's just I don't seem to find anyone else making the same testes ache comments..

You know this sounds awful lot like you are self-medicating, am I right? If so, please don't. Get letters from a therapist and get under the supervision of an endo.

1) I'd recommend against self-medication if that's what you're doing.  And I'd definitely recommend doing some heavy study on the effects of HRT before going on it.  These symptoms are very common, but some symptoms are signs of danger.  It would be much, much safer to go through a doctor for this.  (And apologies if I misunderstood and you are going through a doctor.)

2) Yes, HRT will usually cause your testes to hurt a lot at first.  Mine started within a few days.  Impotence from day one is a bit unusual, but not unheard of.

Oho, that's very useful info, thanks.

I think I might just go on with the Progynova at some very, very low dose until I can get to some doctors in London next month.  Just, it's difficult psychologically to completely give up and it's very unlikely to do some harm (I think), or anything at all, so a bit pointless, but it looks like progress...

Me, I have done quite a bit of research..maybe far too much.  I did go hang out in Thailand for a year to chat with ladyboys, I shared my house with a post-op tgirl...two months ago I was chickening out at the door of the £100 orchiectomy clinic over there..

I self medicated for a few months back when I was in college.  I'd recommend against this route, but I can't exactly stop you if that's what you're doing.

When I started back then, my testes started hurting really bad after a week or so.  It lasted a couple days and I was about to stop the hormones because I was incredibly worried, but the pain went away the next night and never returned.  It didn't come back after I started on hormones officially earlier this year either.

go get sorted by a psychiatrist so you know what you are.

a £100 - $150 orchie clinic in UK or US would make a fortune.

McOrchie :)

Anyway, I just wanted to say thanks to everyone for the feedback, and I will be taking the advice..See, I'm not even bothering you with my website, which I normally bore everyone with.

I'm still surprised at the problem as the dose level was incredibly low, not even a half of what get mentioned in the usual regimes.  Maybe it's something to do with body mass, I'm way skinny.

Aching testes is the norm. The amount of estrogen required varies greatly between individuals.

Self medding is frowned upon but I guess many do it to start with, I did.

Even a low dose can be surprisingly effective for some people.  On the other hand, there are some people who need a very large dose to get any effects.  It's not just body mass, but a number of other factors as well.

Also, I'm not a mod or anything, but I think linking to anything is against the rules here.  (I just remembered that because this is the only site I've ever had with a blanket rule against links.)  So it's probably good that you didn't link to your site. :)

I agree, and it makes me looks appallingly vain, so best avoided.

Once again, a big thanks cos I'm out in the sticks somewhere in England and no one to talk to..so it was really helpful to get this feedback..

So, any time Craig Venter wants to start work on that gene-splice mod, that's fine by me.  I think we'd make a pretty good customer base :)
