Hey Guys,

Ive been a T a while (18months) and my adams apple is yet to grow. My Doc said I might not get one. I am passing well and truley so thats no a problem. I just think Adams Apples are so "manly". Is it possible and has anyone had surgery to push theirs out?

Cheers

I'd like to know if it'll grow as well  :o I hope mine doesn't but looking at the men on my mum's side....they get HUGE  :( like grossly huge. If anything, if mine grows after T....you can take a chunk of mine   ;).

Future-me after T:

(pretty much what I meant by GROSSLY HUGE)

Honestly, I didn't know either until I clicked on this topic.

I think genetics have some role in this as well, so look at the guys in your family to see how theirs look.

This is what wikipedia has to say:
The laryngeal prominence is usually more prominent in adult men than in women or prepubescent children. The growth of the larynx itself during puberty is responsible for the vocal instability in teenage boys. The laryngeal prominence is merely the protrusion one sees of the thyroid cartilage making up the body of the larynx. The laryngeal prominence is usually more prominent in adult males because the thyroid cartilage elongates during puberty, protruding out the front of the neck more noticeably. The result is that the two laminae (thin cartilage) of the thyroid cartilage that form the protrusion meet at an average angle of 90° in males, and 120° in females, so there is less cartilage protruding out in females.

So basically, it appears when puberty kicks in and when the inner-neck changes. Seeing that FtMs get voice drops due to changes in the larynx (from my understanding  ???), it could be possible that the thyroid cartilage/adam's apple could become more prominent as well. I can't confirm anything about this though since I'm not on T and I have no idea what my levels are. I really think the only reason I have a prominent one is through genetics, though I'm starting to wonder if I could possibly be intersexed in some way ???. Any way a female bodied (unknown chromosomes), with periods, and normal feminine stuff besides fat retention could be interesexed?

I'm at about 13.5 months on T and mine is just starting to develop. I can feel it moving around and I can see it in the mirror but I don't think it's noticeable to anyone else just yet.

Like everything else it depends on the genes.  Not all guys have adams apples after all,  For which I am SOOOO thankful for.

Even without T I have a fairly prominent Adams Apple. Use to be bigger when I still had my golfball-sized tonsils, but it shrunk when more room was freed up in my throat and my tonsils were removed.

I grew one.  It was pretty anticlimactic, to be honest.  In most cases I've seen, guys with prominent adam's apples are fairly skinny, hence the prominence.  The adam's apple disappeared after I had been lifting weights for a while (neck curls anyone?), and now I can only tell it's there if I push against my throat with my hand and search for it.

I don't have any visible Adams Apple, but can feel it when I run over my throat with my finger. Feels very comforting after waiting all these years.

My dad doesn't have any either.

I haven't started T and I have quite a prominent one. Though as mentioned by Quicksand I am a very skinny guy.

Mine's come in a little (280 days on T so far).
I don't know whether it, itself has grown, or whether changes in fat and/or muscle has caused it to stick out a little bit more, but it always stuck out just a little bit before.

so guys back to my original question - has anyone had a operation to have it pushed out? or does anyone know if a op like this even exsist?

cheers

Miniar

Never heard of such an op and sincerely doubt any doc'd preform it, though I'm sure getting an "implant" to make it "look" more prominent is theoretically possible.. all things considered.

I have been on T for 13 months.

I have a fairly distinct adams apple.  It has been present for at least 3 or 4 months.

As far as an operation goes that sounds really silly to me, and slightly unsettling.  Just the thought of someone attempting to create a lump in my throat or even just cutting into my throat... *shudder* iuno
I solemnly swear I am up to no good.

I've seen transmen with them, I've seen bio males without one. I'm 4 months on t and have a slight one. Voice depth doesn't mean a huge one, my voice is very deep and doesn't match my adam's apple.  It all depends on genetics, I guess, and also how much body fat you have.

I want an Adams Apple also, I've always been jealous of bio males for being able to get one.
Push it baby, push it baby, out of control, I got my gun cocked tight and I'm ready to blow. ;)

I hadn't even thought about it until I clicked this topic, felt my neck and it's there, really pointy and all that. Observant, this one is.

I dont know if there is any type of surgery to make an adams apple more noticable. I have always have always had one, but I'm now going on 1 year on T and my adams apple has gotten bigger since i've started T. it has to do with your voice dropping and your vocal cords thickening from what I understand. So after you on T for a while your adams apple will most likely stick out, at least a little bit more.
