So who did you see (or will see)..
I went to Dr. Pinchon

err, is this about srs or ffs or both? :)

I'm considering Dr. Chettawut next year for ffs. Anytime I wrote him an email asking some things he answered only in a few days and was usually short but informative. Also the case studies displayed on his site are impressive. Might not be as sexy as Suporn's results (dr. Chet seems to be more conservative) but it's certainly very good for the price :) Never yet seen him personally though.

So Julie, what do you think about Dr. Pinchon? Never heard the name.

I'm considering him too. The price is affordable and everyone seems to have good things to say about him.

I'm all but convinced that if i can swing it, if i ever get SRS i want to go to Bankok for it. The thing is, I'd love to see somesort of comparative database that directly compared the various surgeons there in terms of price, track record, pluses and minuses, and so forth.

there's probably some Wiki pages that would help but a side-by-side comparison would be helpful for my fantasizing... :)

I agree. I've been researching them all and Thailand is very affordable and Supporn's site has some good results listed. They have a self lubricating option that with recovery time is still under $11,000! That's $6000 less then just the surgeons fee for a regular srs surgery not including hospital fees. It seems like the only affordable option for me.

I'd like to go to Bangkok but there are a couple issue to consider, 1- is that even though Bangkok is about 10K cheaper you have add airfare , hotel, spending cash or about -4-5K so for 5-6k saving I am not so sure I would travel so far from home but I may just do it also I am afraid if there are any complications and I don't speak the language and all the unknown that goes along..

Yeah you're right the air line ticket will be really expensive. $4531.20 is what I just found on United. I hadn't thought about that. That cost is huge! Although the hotel there they recommend is something like $42 or $47 a night which isn't that bad. You'd have more expensive in patient fees in a hospital in the States.

So lodging would be about $400, transportation $4531, and the operation about $8000 give or take. You're right that is like $13,000 and not that much cheaper then going to Pennsylvania or Canada to get the operation done.

I don't know that I would rule Thailand out though. It's in the same ballpark of cost but it still remains that I'm hoping to compare the results with everyone else. The hard part though is finding out what the success percentage is. No one ever wants to talk about how many times they ran into complications.

I have 2 friends who have both gone to Sunporn in Thailand, he is not in Bangkok but a little further away I was told anyhow they both told me are very happy with the results.
One had to go back for a revision 3 months later but still happy with the result.
But I am a bit of a wimp if you will and I think if If the difference is about 5-6k I would stay home where I know my surroundings.
I also had a friend who went to Montreal and she is very happy with it. SRS is in my near future but probably not until next summer. Im on day 6 of FFS recovery Im flat broke now LOL..

$4531??????????!?!!!!?!?!!!!!!!!

SERIOUSLY?

that's...about 3 times what I'd guessed.

Ok, fine. So maybe i won't.

It's not the price of the trip to do it, mind you - anything under $15K in all is reasonable. it's the thought that if i ever had to go back i'd have to spend that much for a revision or whatever - THAT is highly intimidating.

*sigh*
It's always something...

I reccommend Dr Suporn.  I am a Suporn graduate :).  I am 4 1/2 years post op.  I love my results and I am also orgasmic.  Although my fiance is aware that I am a post op girl, he says that if I had not told him, he probably would not have known, except for the fact that I am non lubricating and require lube, but that could have been explained away.

I went to Dr Suporn.   I like him so much, I'm going back for a revision in January!

Joking aside, even though I'm having a revision, I wouldn't change my surgeon even if I could.  My irregularities could have happened with any surgeon, and are just cosmetic.   Besides, I'm using the first 4 days of the trip, in Pattaya, to get my PADI scuba diving cert!   Life could definitely suck more :P

Take Care,
Melan

those who have been can confirm that the travel costs are indeed that high? there's no backdoor way to get there cheaper?

I haven't been there but yeah that is the price that United listed today for a flight there from Washington Dulles airport to be booked in August 2011 from today. It might vary based on your origination flight but not very much. Save your frequent flier milage and it would make it cheaper. Maybe check often and you might stumble upon a sale. I didn't check the prices of the other carriers, maybe there are cheaper one's then United.

Edit:

It might also be cheaper at different times in the year.

I am going to see Dr Suporn his work is amazing and a good price compared to UK surgeons.
Dr Chettawuy is a good cheaper option, I see it as SRS is a once and most important surgery on my body and I want a fully healthy sex life after, £10,000 is cheap for that (in my  opinion)

Cost of flight is approx £500-530
hotel for 22 Days approx after 8 days i n hospital is £600 so not to bad.

I have seen his work, 2 women showed  me, and they had depth, sensation and appearance, one women was in a relationship with a guy totaly stealth and he never had a clue.

I seen UK work and it is not great, when I had my NHS consultancy I got 5 minutes and could barely ask questions re sensation, depth etc, just told to get gential hair electroysis, with Dr Suporn no hairs!

Heh.

I've been on an airplane exactly two times in my life - both in 1983 (to basic in Great Lakes and back when I was released from service)

Frequent flyer is about as foreign to my experience as it gets.

that (500 pounds) converts to about $793, if that's one way then twice that is not quite $1600 - why the huge difference?

i mean sure, the flights might be shorter or something but not enough to account for THAT much difference.

Well I did a little research online and found a flight from Boston to Bangkok on Delta round trip for $1263
I did a date range from Feb-13-11 to March 9-11, planning surgery date ideally on Feb 17 which is my B-day and is like being re-born on that date, that leaves me 3 weeks to recover in Thailand before I come home. Hotels are about $70 x night for a decent hotel so about $450 in hotel and $1,500 spending cash which gives me about $500 a week to live on for food and drinks etc. so about $3,300 to $3,500 + cost of surgery.

Wow Delta is a lot cheaper then United! Thats huge. Thanks.

Edit:

That is unreal. At first on Delta's website it looked like they where charging for each way of the trip in a round trip package, but once I went through it all right up until I would actually have to pay the cost was quoted as $1690.90 to go from Dulles to Bangkok and back. That is a huge price difference!
