OK girls, I am going to make you feel real good about the size of your hands. Mine are huge. Bigger then most guys. I was driving down the freeway a while ago. My daughter and one of her fiends were in the back seat. As we passed a car you could see a man had his hand resting just outside his window. My daughter's friend says "look that guys got hands like your dad". GRRR ! >:(

I know there have been posts about how long the average  fingers are. Actually long slender fingers are quite feminine.  But what about girth? How do you measure that? Well I think I know how. ::) remember this isn't a competition so be honest.

What you do is, get two bowls . The first one has to be big enough for your fist to fit in , up side down. Up to the first wrinkle on your wrist . ( If you don't have a wrinkle on your wrist your disqualified , just kid'n,  I love you anyways :)). The second bowl should be larger then the first but it doesn't have to be as deep e.g a pie tin.  Place the first bowl inside the second. Now carefully fill the first bowl with water all the way to the top, in fact fill it till just a little water trickles over the top. Now place your fist up-side-down in the first bowl up to the first wrinkle, let the water run over the top into the second bowl. Hold your hand steady til the water stops flowing over the top. Remove your hand, take the first bowl out of the second. Now pour the water that is in the second bowl into a measuring cup.

I will be first. I am a whopping 16 oz.

BTW any suggestions. I have heard large clunky bracelets ?? anything else?

Does anyone ever actually notice if we have big hands? I mean it seems to be something people look for if they clock you. It does not actually detract from passing. That is my theory anyway.

My advice, get a woman with large breasts... ;)

what's an oz  ???

It must just be dysphoria showing through. But when I see myself in the mirror, I think I should just paint them red , put the word "STOP" across them and go get myself a job as a crossing guard.  :)

Just being funny. I try to make light of something that I find bothers Me. :D

Yes, people do notice. I've been told by several people that they didn't know I was trans but pegged my partner because of her hand size. In fact after I started T I got facial hair really fast, so I passed constantly. When I tell people I'm trans I have to actually convince them it's true. Only once have I had someone tell me they knew I was trans since I began HRT and she said it was because my hands are small.

I even thought one of my coworkers may be trans when I first started my new job because she has large hands, granted I'm trans and have a MTF partner so I do notice these things more than the average person. Imagine my shock when she showed me a family picture of her sister, herself and her daughter... all 3 HUGE women. I mean seriously huge, not fat at all, just tall and built very much like men. Honestly, they'd make a lot of you women feel better about things like shoulders, hands and height lol.

I feel you sister mine are 8 inches from wrist to tip and 4-4 1/4 inches in width.

I would think, if you spend some time on preparing the skin and nails and use some appropriste jewlery, together with confidence, there should be a problem.

If you think about it, there is only a problem for those that find it a problem.

Mine are about the same, and thick as heck. I have to remember, when my wife asks for me to help her in the garden, move some large rocks. Not to walk over and pick them up, one in each hand. Like I'm palming a couple of basketballs. Then maybe the muscle might get smaller. :D

huge hugs, with my huge hands, Erocse :)

I too stress about my hands! And yes, as most people mention it is probably just me worrying unduly. There is so much variance in GG's... it's hard to tell what's in my mind and what is a real concern!

I did try this little experiment, and came out at 14 oz. I went a little further in than the first wrist wrinkle and didn't notice right away (I had a hair elastic on my wrist I took off just before trying, and went to the line it left instead  :-\). Between the slight over dip and the fact that I still need to lose 50lbs, I'm thinking it might actually be 13 in a best case scenario. 8 inches wrist to tip, and just a shade under 4 inches in width however...

See now doesn't that make you feel a little better, mine are 20% larger.  :)

I don't know why, I'm not that huge of a person, 5'-10 1/2. I don't let it get me down. I did however see a GG in the store the other day that had hands like mine. :)

There's some good advice. Well manicured nails and feminine jewelry should help distract from their size. People see long nails and automatically associate them with female hands.

There a lot of GGs that have to live with "man hands".  As many have said rings, bracelets, long nails and nail polish will help to distract from their actual size.

That sounds complicated  ???

Instead I am using tori319's method.

6.5 inches from wrist to the tip of my middle finger, and 2.5 inches around at the base of my middle finger. I'd say I have very slender and healthy hands. But that comes from 13 years of playing the piano and guitar. They tend to be vainy and and sort of muscular because of that.

there is my hand next to a cd for reference. I know my nails are filthy, I just got done doing a bunch of house chores.

Edit:

Here is a junky diagram I made to show how I measured my hand.

geez, I don't have a measuring cup :) But have a ruler! 7" long and 3.4" wide at the part where the 4 fingers join the palm. (6ft tall) btw, where did you measure width?

I have a strange relationship with them, kinda love/hate. err, I never really love them but certainly there are times when I don't hate them :) What I never did like is they're very wide compared to the 2.2" wide wrists so they kind of stick out like a pair of shovels. A female palm for these wrists would be around 2.7-3" wide. And it's weird also because the fingers themselves are very thin so I have lots of space between the fingers, it's just doesn't explain why did they need such a wide palm at all :) Genetics, so stupid...

And I still have some very visible muscles on the side of the palm and around the thumb so when the 'mones take care of that it should look a bit more feminine but the bone width won't change. Or will it? I've heard some people got smaller feet during therapy by somehow the bones/joints moving closer to each other or something. If this can happen, it can happen with the hands too, as they're built similarly, small bones and lots of joints.

I used to say it's not about size but proportions (HAVE to say that all the time because of my height :) ), eg. if you have a strong bone structure overall with larger wrists then that 16oz shouldn't look big. I'd be careful with very long nails and colorful polish though, if you don't want to attract too much attention to them.

Overall, my male relatives with similar height have much larger hands and mine are very close to my mother's (talk about coincidence) so should consider myself lucky I guess :)

I'm curious about something, what if we get some of the FTM guys in on this topic. We can compare! If we all are comfortable with posting our height/weight then we can compare the size of our hands to someone else of similar size from the opposite birth gender. I know this may be hard, we need some people to be honest and hopefully we can find some matches to compare.

I'm about 5'6 and weigh about 140lbs. If anyone is a match for me I'd be happy to play along :)

Also any suggestions for someone who may not be able to do the whole long nails thing? Some other way to do your nails I mean, obviously the jewelry and other options are still in existence lol. My fiancee works on cars, not really something that fake/long nails help with but I know she'd like to find some ways to detract from the size of her hands :(

Not a bad idea! I'm 6'2", and *gasp* 225 lbs (right now!). I've lost 10 pounds in the last few weeks and am aiming for another 50 in the next few months. Index finger is dead middle between 2.5 and 2.75 (I guess that makes it 2.625 LOL)

Ugh, silly numbers. I've been dealing with that all week (numbers I mean). We get bonuses on our paychecks depending on performance, while I earned one this month I didn't get it because I was at an average of 44.752 hours and you have to have an average of 45 hours.... really? Really now?

Stupid numbers. How about we all make ourselves feel better, ladies round down, guys round up lol.

Samantha, I thought width is something that can be measured with a ruler :) What you're talking about is more like circumference... Sorry I'm a mathematician, had to point that out :)

But as much as I hate numbers (I had pretty much enough of them in school), I measured and got 2.5" for the middle one. It's interesting, I never would've thought this number can be so big, they seem much thinner than that...

And to Cowboi: I rounded down :)

5'7, 150lbs. 7" long from first crease on the wrist, 3" wide, middle finger 2.5" circumference. Strange how everything on my body seems to come out to these neat round numbers...didn't know my hands knew what an inch was :)

You know... You're absolutely right. And now that you mention it I should have recognized that sooner. Oh well, live and learn, I'll try not to make such an elementary mistake again  ;D

Great reply, I use to be self conscious of my hands years ago, but I was the only person that found it a problem as they are  slightly on the large size, but over the years getting manicures and getting my nails done, wearing nail polish, maybe pink lol my favorite color, apart from the size, which nobody seems to notice, my hands are now very very feminine.
As for men, they never look at my hands, too busy looking and talking to my 36DD boobs, staring at my cleavage, never seem to notice my hands, only a minor detail.
