I hate seeing young kids with pierced ears, body modding should be a choice for the individual to make later in life.

Earrings for kids happen. If they are younger, barely just walking, then questionable, yes. Do it young enough, as in not too young, and the kid is smart enough to know if s/he doesn't really want them. They'll heal if taken out.

It's not like finding a scar between your legs.

I agree about kids and pierced ears. I have obvious holes in my ears. :(

As for body mods, heck yeah! If only I had a higher pain tolerance and no fear of needles. Like a lot of the other guys I'll probably get a chest tat after top surgery if I think I can handle it.

Are you saying that it's ok?

I don't think it's ok to scar a kid just because the parents think it looks good. When people are old enough they should be able to chose to get them pierced or not.

I'm not telling someone else what is ok and not ok to do with their kids.

If anything, I'm comparing the (un)comfortableness of an intersexual left with a scar between the legs and hole in the ear. I doubt the reaction is the same. Both cases have happened, however... so that's past tense.

You didn't answer my question, is it wrong or is it ok to make a hole in a young kids lobe even though the kid cannot consent?

Parents make such decisions all the time... without the kids consent. I hate it when doctors don't even consult with the parents about what the doctor wants to do to kids.

My child was was 4 at the time. I did mine first right before her, and she sat on my lap patiently watched and waited for hers to be done. It was done by a professional in the middle of a huge mall. She's loved earrings ever since. I couldn't continue to wear mine do to allergies.

Go ahead and hate it.
