What happens if I can't find a gender therapist in my area? Do you I have to travel out all the time to see one so I can get on T?
I searched the internet for gender therapist and there's nothing in my area. The closest one I think is a few hours away.

It depends - many people have had success bringing up gender issues with a regular therapist, while others have obtained referrals in this way.

I am seeing a normal therapist and it has been good for me so far. I don't have a lot of experience but it seens to me that what truely matters is if the person is aware of gender issues or not.

Thanks for the replies. I see my counselor Wednesday so I'm gunna ask her if she can give me a referral so I can get on T as soon as possible.  I wanna get on T this month or sometime before the end of 2010.

What do you mean a"referral in this way"?

Most therapists, even those who aren't gender specialists, have encountered clients with gender issues before. Assuming you find one who's professional and sympathetic, even if they're not comfortable doing gender-related counseling themselves, they can probably refer you to someone in the area who is.

Oh okay.  Hopefully my counselor can find me a gender therapist if she can't write me a referral.
