Hey guys,

only me again.  Just wanted to know how long after surgery did you cover your nipples for?  Also, when did u start having showers where u let the water directly hit your chest?  Appreciate all your help guys.

Can't say because I haven't had top surgery yet, but wow your results look awesome. If you're OK with it can I know the name of your surgeon.

I kept my nipples covered until the scabbing stopped, and that took about 4-ish weeks. I think it was week 5 when I let water hit my chest directly but I was still careful about it. No hard spray, etc. And afterwards I used alba un-petroleum jelly on my nipples to keep them moisturized even when I was no longer covering them up with gauze. I did wear thin white undershirts (sleeveless a-shirts), though, to keep my nipples and scars protected. I'm still doing that now because it makes things so much more comfortable when I'm wearing button-down shirts.

Hey man, I stopped covering my nipples probably between 3-4 weeks. I started letting the water hit my chest directly at my 1 month mark.

Thanks for asking this, i was wondering the same thing after we talked on youtube.  I'm still scabby but i was thinking it wouldn't do much good to cover them after the scabs are off?

Once the scabs are off you don't have to worry about covering them unless they're really tender or prone to irritation from having fabric rub against them. That was happening for me when they were freshly healed, but at this point they're totally normal (11 weeks post-op).

Hey guys, thanks for the replies.  I took the bandages off a couple days ago as i was still paranoid about my left nipple but they seem to be doing pretty well uncovered.   I havn't let the water hit my chest directly yet - just worried that i'll be trying to catch it before it goes down the drain    but i'll give it a go in the next couple of days.

@mgrimm - i took your advice and have covered my nips with neosporin ointment as they get irritated with the fabric rubbing against them.

Been so long now but I followed my surgeon's directions.  Was a few weeks I think.
