The American Family Association (AFA), through their "news" outlet OneNewsNow, has a story up on their website entitled Anti-Discrimination Law Would Still Discriminate. The article begins this way:

An expert is suggesting that passing a proposed anti-discrimination law in Bowling Green, Ohio, that caters to cross-dressers would discriminate against women and risk their safety.

Dr. Mary Ann Stark, associate professor at Western Michigan University, is warning that the law could have an impact similar to that in Kalamazoo, Michigan, where she had a recent experience. Stark spoke before a special meeting of opponents of the proposed law in Toledo, where WUPW covered her concerns about a male cross-dresser who entered a public restroom in Kalamazoo, which the local ordinance permits.

i remember reading this about 3 days ago, she supposedly is some sort of "gender expert" but she's clearly prejudiced against against transgendered people. i can't imagine how many trans students she's taught and maybe she talked like that to them who knows. it's really irritating the amount of ignorance there is. kind of shames me to be from the same state.

Ah the old, 'men in dresses',

None of these phobic people ever explain how a chemically and/or physically castrated 'Man in a dress' can present a 'threat' to women. In all my time of going to the female loo I have never heard anyone asking me for a sexual encounter. I'm fairly certain I haven't asked for one either. Then again why would I want sex with a female? I'm not gay. Oh maybe she wants lesbians banned from female toilets as well. However, in the past when presenting as male I have had several 'requests' for sex in the male toilet. Somehow I don't think those people were interested in females either, unless of course they recognized my GID.

As for being a University Professor, some of the biggest jerks I know are University Professors. I'm excluded of course.

I can respect sincere and well reasoned disagreement, but the knee-jerk nonsense that we are potential predators, when NO instance of predatory behavior is on record, is increasingly tiresome.
Disclaimer: due to serious injury, most of my posts are made via Dragon Dictation which sometimes butchers grammar and mis-hears my words. I'm also too lazy to closely proof-read which means some of my comments will seem strange.

Brilliant Cindy.

That's the sort of reasoning I can really identify with.

when we see these stories it always makes me wonder what the women are doing in the toilets that they don't want anyone to see?
I go in, sit, pee, wash my hands, check my hair and lipstick and leave.
What does Mary Ann do that she would not be able to do if we both used the toilet at the same time?
