I really really need to talk to someone my own age (17) about being transgender. I can't talk to anyone face to face about it cause I'm too shy and don't want to dissappoint anyone. My Dad especially who kept repeating that homosexuality is disgusting, I'm terrified. But the frustration has gotten so bad lately and I just need to at least have someone who will listen and understand. Please

I am not your age Charlie. I'm sure that someone who is will respond but in the mean time I will say a few things.

I'm really sorry yout dad has such strong views on homosexuality. Sadly, those views were, once, very widely held and believed. Some still hold to old ideas. It is probably better if you try not to antagonise your dad for the moment.

I too lived through this, as have many others here. Believe me when I say, we will understand.

You are among freinds here. People who will help, because we want to.

 I am quite a bit older then you are. (47). I am sorry to hear that about your dad. I worked with me dad for years. He too was not willing to except homosexuality or any other gender variant. I've seem him chase customers right out the door because his opinions regarding homosexuality.

You are in the right place, here at Susan's. There are lots going thru the same thing you are and who are your age. It gets better, trust me.

I'm alittle older than you (23) I certainly remember begin your age and you sound very much like me at that age I know how badly it hurts and I still carry the scars from that time. There are others younger than me if you feel more comftorbal talking to them. Because when your young 5 years is still quite a gap.

I certainly know what you mean about living for others I was much the same and you will feel very different when you begin to move towards independance ie moving off to college and such Your at the age when you begin to realize your parents are only human and they can be drooling idiots as much as anyone and you shouldn't feel that you can't point that out when taking action that you know is right by you.

There is a culture difference if you live in the USA as I live in the UK in the UK you have alittle more discretion when seeking out medical help in the USA everything about your health histories is controlled by your insurance companies in a very distorted and tyrannical way and any doctors visits will appear on there insurance bills. Although here in the UK you can only start HRT and treatment once your 18 years old.

The age of supporters is not as important as the support. Wisdom, experience, consideration, and common ground can be found here. This is a great place to find that, post your worries and concerns.  Many good people will share thier experience with you. I hope you find what you need.

21 here, and that makes me fairly young, but I'm in a situation much like yours, so I am willing to listen.

We really do understand and are willing to listen.  We do not judge.  You have brothers and sisters here who really care.

It's a shame that your father is having these feelings.  It will make it hard to make progress, but you can do it.  You are smarter than you know, and stronger than you feel.  We will be with you as you move along your path.

Best of luck Charlie! Some of us may not be your age but we used to be and completely understand your circumstance. I am a very shy person as well and am also transgender, I find that coming out and even exploring my feelings to be difficult because of this. Just know that you can talk about your problems here and not be harrassed or seen as anything but curageous for sharing and seeking help. I applaud you.

Heya Charlie, I know how it feels to be stressed out and need someone to talk to. This past month has personally been a real learning experience and a challenge, and I'm lucky to have had a few friends who were willing to lend an ear. Sometimes it can make all the difference. If you ever want to talk, I'm on here pretty regularly. And really, don't hesitate anytime.
