Hi Folks,

Just signed up to this site so thought I would introduce myself !!

My name is Becky, I am 30 years old and live in the UK.  I have never been a huge fan of labels but we a community as diverse as this one they are probably something you cant get away from.  I tend to think of myself as just a normal girl but MtoF pre-op transsexual will suffice also.

Think my story is pretty much similar to many other you read.  I have known that something wasn't right since I was about 3 years old, never said anything and grew up feeling confused and unhappy.  I went through a really bad stage of depression because of how I felt which worsened when my mum died.  It might sound a strange thing to say but once I accepted the loss of my mum I realised that I had reached the point where I either had to do something about how I felt or I was going to take my own life, not a nice feeling I know !!  But there was no way I could keep living the way I was.  So I made an appointment with my doctor and haven't looked back since.

I went full time in October 2006, friends and family have been fine even though a few of my family struggle with the name change still, lol.  Work has been no problem at all, went through the usual motions with HR, the staff were all told and I turned up on my first day and not a thing was said.  I have only been taking hormones for the last 2 months due to various complications with the National Health Service.  Living full time is one thing but hormones are something else completely !!  Even though I read as much as possible before I started taking them and knew what was going to happen, nothing really prepares you for the changes - the mood swings and fits of crying make things interesting in work !!

So that's all about me, anyone wants to know anything then feel free to ask !!

Hi Becky,
And welcome to Susan's.
Don't worry about labeling yourself. Most of us don't really fit into any label.
If your look for friends and or information about gender issues this is the place.
Please read the site rules at:
https://www.susans.org/forums/index.php/topic,2.0.html if you haven't already.
Then check out the Wiki, with ton of info on the gender topics. Oh and check out our chat and links section too. Have a great read.
 :) :)

Hi, Becky!

The only label that I think cannot be argued with is "human" so I usually leave it at that!  I'm happy that you decided to join us.

Hi Becky,

Welcome!  Yes, yours is a familiar story.  I saw some of my life there.  You'll find many of us have been through much the same thing.

I hope you enjoy your time here at Susan's and if you need anything, just ask.  You are surrounded by helpful, friendly people.

Julie
When you judge others, you do not define them, you define yourself.

Hi Everyone,

This seems like a really nice place so far, thanks for the nice welcome !!  ;D

And think you are quite right Helen - "human" will do quite nicely.

Welcome.  Do not feel compelled to choose a label, because you are not the only one uncomfortable with them here.  :)
