Acting Essex County Prosecutor Robert D. Laurino announced today that Marquise Foster, 25, of North Plainfield surrendered at approximately 8 pm tonight without incident. Foster was wanted for the murder of Victoria Carmen White, a 28-year-old transgender Newark woman. Ms. White was murdered in Maplewood on Sept. 12.

Though saddened to hear of another murder of one of our sisters, it's refreshing to see a news item that treats the victim with respect and according to the guidelines set forth in the Associated Press Stylebook.

we have to have some respect for the guy turning himself in and knowing that it will be very nasty from now on.

Original report stated dead person as male though she was post-op and had new name and papers. Smallminded newsreporters.
