Hi there!!!

Just wanted to say a quick hello.  Introducing myself:- bananaslug (oh it's a long story...) - truth is,  I am an androgyne and damn proud of it!
I know some people say androgyny is not transgender yadayadayada - hell I've heard people say that it's 'all just about appearance.  I Like to think of myself as gender-enlightened.  Which is to say, gender really doesn't bother me much - although I do find it fascinating that people feel so strongly about being either male or female.

Anyway, I noticed a link from wikipedia to the androgyne forums here and I must say I'm impressed! Been reading some of the articles there.

Well, regardless of what people think, you have come to the right site.  We know that the gender spectrum is vast and you can be anywhere from left to right, but not necessarily on the left or on the right.  We used to have another member whose avatar was a Bananaslug too, is this like a symbol for
androgynous people or you just adore the little creature?

Please feel free to explore all of Susan's forums, get familiar with the site rules and visit the wiki and reference library where there is plenty of valuable information for your reading pleasure.  Welcome and you know we will be looking forward to your future posts, right?

Around here folks call me Maddy (Madison). I'm beginning to think there is something to this new age concept of visualization. I've been visualizing more people who identify as androgynes participating in the forums and it seems to be happening. Now I just hope the visualizing of meeting more androgynes who live somewhere near by becomes real, and the $60,000 I've been visualizing appearing in my mailbox, and...

Seriously though, welcome. Forget what people have said and put your preconcieved notions aside, I think you will find a lot of good new friends here. Around here I think most people recognize that the term transgender is a broad umbrella and that a lot of people fit under it, hence the various subcommunity boards such as "Androgyne Talk".

Funny, I hadn't been here for months, and I stumbled back via the very same wiki link you speak of.

Welcome Bananaslug...look forward to you joining us in the Androgyne room...maybe you can help me keep up with Madison as my poor little mind gets a little stretched.  This visualization stuff is a good thing, but come on...isn't $60,000 a little short sited???  Come on Lottery!

You won't hear that bullcrap about androgyny not being transgender here.  If you do stumble across it, let us know and we will show that poor person the error of their ways...we got to stick together, ya know?

Gender-enlightened is a good way to look at it.  I tend to think of it as the ability to truly understand both gender's point of view as that's who we are.  And, for the record, I feel strongly about being male AND female.

Look forward to hearing a whole lot more from you.  Sounds like you will have some interesting things to say.

LaurieO: I'm just being realistic, starting small with this visualization thing. $60,000 is a perfect amount to accomplish a short list of goals, including completing my zen garden, some minor home upgrades, paying off my car, and otherwise getting out of debt, and a couple other things I can't remember right now.

Sheesh, the lottery. Everybody knows you don't visualize the lottery. You visualize money just appearing in your mailbox and you never ever think about bills appearing in them. Oh and by the by, Tinkerbell literally posted right under me, from the time I hit the reply button, made a gin and tonic, did some laundry and finished my post. OOOH, I'll get you Tinkerbell.

Anyway, this is bananaslugs post, and I suppose I should return it to him/her/etc... Though it is kind of a nice post, homey, comfortable, I was thinking of moving in.

Any Santa Cruz connection to your long story? Just a guess, but I'm sure it's far more interesting than that.

Next question, does it have anything to do with the mascot of the University College at Santa Cruz athletic mascot?

"Transgendered" is a large tent, with plenty of room for all.  I personally abhor the hierarchy that some subscribe to.  Having said that -- Laurie, Maddy, c'n I help with your administering additudinal adjustments?  >

Hey, you know BS, I would like to make a request.  You wouldn't mind changing your avatar would you?  Even though I've been a naturalist in the CA park system, I'm just not prepared to log in to see slimy copulating banana slugs every day.  It's provoking for a day or two but after that, I'm seriously grossed out.  Oddly enough, I also care what my food looks like before I eat it too
