Calling All Newspapers . . .

I'm seeing more and more articles about transitioning people on newspaper websites these days, especially in the United States and Britain. Despite not always getting the terminology right, the articles are generally upbeat and supportive. We've come a long way in raising awareness about transitioning people. Of course, there is still much to be done, but we are making progress.

Note that I didn't use the adjective "transgender" in the preceding paragraph, even if many of the articles erroneously refer to transitioned women and men as transgender people. And while some people may refer to us as "transsexuals," it says "female" on my birth certificate -- with no asterisks.
