GET YER A$$ES OUT THERE AND VOTE!!!  You have no one to blame except yourself if some numbskull candidate, and lord knows we got plenty this season, gets elected and wants to repeal select amendments to the constitution or want to waste valuable legislative time having an investigation as to the heritage and legality of select member of the executive branch.  Or make transsexuality illegal.

Don't say it can't happen here, ever!  It has been said that a people get the government they deserve.  Let us not deserve such craziness.

In Oregon, we use mail in ballots.  We got ours last Monday.  Mine was back in the mail on Tuesday.

Ah you are talking about politicians, Laura.  Most of whom  are lawyers.  And since when you know a politician or a lawyer not lie.

Apologies to the lawyers among us.   But there is more to voting than just picking someone.  We also get to have our voice on certain issues.

Obviously you don't vote , because if you did you would realized that we do have a voice on issues.  For example.  Here, there is a proposal to allow an non-Indian casino in our small town.  It will means jobs for about 100 or so people and it will bring in business to our area.  And it will use an existing building.

In Washington there is a proposal to allow liquor sales in the 7-11 type stores.

Bond issues for fire/police departments, school bonds and mandatory sentences for certain crimes.

I'm in agreement with Laura, I'm not voting. But in my defense, my state has no senators running, my representative is Whitman (who is running against Krystal Ball and her crazy sex parties, I'd love to see her win, but she's polling like 33% IIRC) and my state's governor race is next year.

Also, for the most part the democrats won't represent me, the democrats are just Republican light, and if you look at them (Obama included) they are center-right. But I still bite my tongue and vote for them because God forbid another Bush, or even worse his crazier Teabagger replacements like Paladino and O'Donnell (talk about a big tent, you got the anti-masturbation lady and the guy e-mailing bestiality).

But speaking of propositions (which there aren't any big ones in VA, so another reason not to vote) but speaking of which if you live out in California, vote yes on Prop 19 for me.

I will disagree with you on this, Laura. I've switched party affiliations since I've transitioned, based to a large degree on civil rights issues. While transitioning, I saw and experienced politicians and their supporters who would rather I crawl in a hole than have an equal standing in society.

As someone who used to have the option to get married ( well I still do, if it were a guy and not my partner Julie) only to have it taken away since transitioning. Likewise, both myself and my partner have experienced prejudice in employment due to our transitions. Therefore, for me, the litmus test of any candidate is their voting record or statements about gay marriage and a trans inclusive ENDA. Until I get my rights, I don't care where a politician stands on other issues. Sure, I do keep their opinions in mind, but I'm out for my equal rights-the same as any other American citizen and tax payer.

Well obviously porn is OK as long as you don't masturbate to it.  They are Republicans after all, sex might be dirty, nasty and bad, but making money off of it, well, that's divine.  After all Christ was a Free Market Capitalist who spoke English as his first language.

I have always felt, preached and acted upon this truism:
Politicians and baby diapers both need to be changed often, and for the same reason.

Yeah, most political types are crooks, liars, cheats and demigods - and those are the good points about them.  Who exactly ever said anything different?  But there are a few good ones, and more than a few really, really, bad - like evil type bad - ones and that's good enough to keep me voting.  After all most rock bands are a bunch of talentless hacks with stupid haircuts who spent far more time on their brand marketing plans than their music.  But you don't hate all music, you just become more selective.


PS - I voted for 19, but really didn't like it.  I feel all the wrong people are going to vote for it for the wrong reasons.  That and I don't want to see corporate pot.

I voted because I had the option and I chose the options I wanted within that option.

I'm still going to bitch about politicians, even the ones I voted for. They damn well better remember why I voted for them.

I'm going to bitch at anyone who opposes what I politically believe is the right thing.

I'm going to bitch about how the opposition is standing in the way of the ruling party.

I'm going to bitch about how the ruling party is caving in to the opposing party.

I'm going to bitch and bitch and bitch about every thing that is not right.

But mostly I'm going to scream and yell and bitch even louder at anyone who tries to intimidate the voters again with lies.

I had to vote early because I was gone on election day.  And yes, I don't like some of the outcomes.  But, to use another cliche, if you are not part of the solution, you are part of the problem.
