Does anyone else find that they really, really, really crave greasy, salt laden and fat ridden carbs anytime your boobs ache? It's not really annoying because I know that if my body is craving something to that level that I should listen to it, but crivens...I swear I'll have someones arm off one of these days when i've got cravings and someone makes the mistake of offering me chocolate cake. :D

Yes I did.  And I think that it is partly the Spiro and partly the breast developing.

And Thanks Helena, now I want a chocolate cake.  :P

I did get the "boobs hurt MUST FEED!" desire however it wasn't for carbs it was ironically for protein and fat and lemons (I was vegetarian at the time so I decided to throw that plan out the window and started eating alot of beans+oily fish.) The vegetarian thing was only a cover anyway so I could eat lots of phytoestrogens and not raise suspicion (Phytoestrogens had no effect btw) It can be difficult to gauge early on in HRT how much you need to eat as your hormones are lowering your metabolism.

I just finished month one of HRT, and have had crazy cravings and insatiable hunger almost since the beginning and the boobs hurt for the past week.  I haven't started to associated the 2 things, but both are present. ....Jenna

Welcome to 2nd puberty :p

Every once in a while I just need salt... Pretzels work really well and so do Chili's Texas Cheese fries... <3

So it is said that if you know your enemies and know yourself, you can win a hundred battles without a single loss.
If you only know yourself, but not your opponent, you may win or may lose.
If you know neither yourself nor your enemy, you will always endanger yourself.

Oh yes, do I ever get those cravings. It really doesn't help that I seem to have an insatiable appetite for whatever I might be craving. Sometimes I crave salt (seems to be my most common craving), carbs, protein, a combination thereof and whatever might be in front of me or within reach :o. Grease is really good too! I basically went straight from male to female puberty with little to no time in between, and the appetite shows. Tit-ache and those seemingly ridiculous cravings seem to go hand in hand, whether it be carbs or anything else. Helena, it looks as if you have "The Hunger" :D. You cannot control it, so it's best you just give in to it.

Edit: I haven't weighed myself in almost 2 months. With all these cravings, I would have expected that a weight gain was surely going to happen. I got on the scale, and apparently I'm down 10lbs, to 149lbs, and my BMI is 20.9. Weird! Never mind, probably because of muscle atrophy.

You'll crave salt because Spironolactone dumps almost every bit of sodium it can find out of your body. You'll also crave fats and carbs since the body is developing in new ways, it needs raw materials to build it's new design.

Though you shouldn't go absolutely crazy and eat everything but the curtains, feel free to up your caloric intake for a while when those cravings happen. Just be sure to stay active!

Strangely enough, my first craving was for veggies! (and meat tasted funny!)I think that was because of my notoriously bad diet :embarrassed: However I'm back to being a carb monster again now, and yes, sore boobs have been pretty much a constant for a while now.

I'm not on spiro any more but I notice that I get all kinds of cravings... Particularly during boobie growth spurts

The strangest I can remember is when a neighbor friend saw me eating pickles with sour cream and hot sauce... She asked "What are you... pregnant?"

LOL Virginia.

My neighbor asked the same thing when I got Vanilla ice creme, hot fudge, and dill pickles at the store the other day.  And I actually learn to love it when my second wife was pregnant with our second son.  She would have it nightly.

I've just bought a long board (well the deck so far...just got to wait for some money to clear to get the rest of it) so that shouldn't be a problem.  ;D

From a common sense and physiologic stand point this would make sense.

At just close to 90 days on HRT... I have few if any cravings to speak of  ???. I hated salty foods before, and still do. I always pick all the salt off my pretzels. Hated chocolate before, and still do. I pretty much had a low sodium, low carb, low fat, no-processed sugars, high protein diet pre-HRT and pretty much keep the same diet currently.

And just to add to it... I've lost a few pounds as well (mostly due to lost muscle, but some fat as well). I do exercise everyday and I'm super picky about what I eat though.

There's too many variables in diet and metabolism..I'd sure hate to actually study it for a living!

That's an awesome diet though! Processed sugars = BAD BAD BAD! They're one of the worst things for you!

Wait, I'm not on HRT.

Maybe if you eat a bunch of carbs now, you won't need to eat as many when you go on HRT.  Think of it like putting a down payment on a car.

Of course, I could be wrong.
