So I've not been updating on this lately because with every step closer I took it felt like something was bound to go horribly wrong and delay the process further.. I didn't want to jinx it. :p

But today.. I actually visited my GP to pick up my prescription, and luckily they even had it in stock there! ;D

So I now have a few boxes of Sustanon in my hand! These cost me £7.20 on the NHS for about 11.5 week's supply.
I'm going back to the doctor's tomorrow lunch time to get the first one stuck in me by a nurse. :D

I've got a question however:
There were only "whole" ampules available (which my GP was a little confused about), whereas I'm meant to be on a "half" dose at the moment..
It's just a snap-off-the-top glass amp, anyone know if it's fine to just leave half in there to be used later?

I've never taken T, or E for that matter... but I know a thing or two about injected drugs and I can say with almost complete certainty that you should NEVER use remaining drug from an ampule. Usually you're supposed to throw it out. Im sure someone else will be here soon to verify.

Ah ok, thank you for clarifying!

I guess when my doctor said to just draw half she meant discard the rest? :o
In her little book of drugs it said there was only 1ml amps. And on the info sheet inside the box it says "Sustanon is packed in 1ml glass ampoules." (sorry if this is against the don't talk dosage rules..! I'm not sure if this counts..)

Has anyone on a half dose actually found half size amps, or Sustanon in any reusable container?

Nathan.

Thats awesome!

I just go to the nurse every 4 weeks and she injects me with the sustanon that they have there so I don't need to get a perscription.

I'm on full dose so I can't help with your question sorry.

My wife who is a nurse...told my son to keep using the vial ... she seemed to think it was okay

Congrats Banf! I've never used sustanon but I'm pretty sure that because the container can't be sealed again you're supposed to just bin it.

Cheers, guys!

So, stupidly, it didn't cross my mind to check that the nurse had read the note on the box about just doing the half dose, until she'd already stuck it in me. Doh! ¬.¬
Oh well.. We'll just need to leave twice as long before the next injection, then continue as I should be. Fail! P:
She also said that the remaining halves will need to be discarded FYI.

But this was the only hiccup thankfully! Otherwise she was very nice, it didn't hurt at all, and I feel great. :D

A vial is not an ampule, there's an extremely important difference in that an ampule once opened can't be reclosed, and a vial can't be opened to begin with.

Vials have a snap off top with a sealed membrane that you pierce with a needle, so the contents make no serious contact with the outside world.

Ampules are sealed containers, usually glass but sometimes plastic, that's broken open, once open they will be exposed to the atmosphere forever, open for particles to contaminate the contents.

Vials come in single dose and multidose forms, it's recommended any from a single dose vial be discarded after use, multidose vials usually have an expiry period once opened.

In general however, outside of a few exceptions, you should discard unused medication unless it's said to do otherwise. Vials usually say if they're single or multidose, ampules I'd imagine are never multidose.

These are vials, note that the Heparin vial has the ok for multidose use, but the sterile water has not.

Also note that the sterile water says "Rx (Prescription) only" on it. Gotta love bureaucracy.

And this is a testosterone ampule, I haven't heard of much use of vials in hormone medications. They tend to use ampules for the cost benefits.

My T (testosterone cypionate) comes in a 10ml vial, but I think Sustanon (which is a blend of different flavours of T designed for sustained release over a longer time) only comes in amps.

depends on the manufacture, I've seen and used hormone meds that came in either vial or ampule form. an unspoken benefit of ampules is longer shelf life (since it's sealed), although partly offset from the need for a filter tip needle to remove particle matter pre-injection.

Ah. As I said I've never dealt much with injectable hormones, all the few times I'd seen them I'd seen them as ampules.

The other sucky thing about ampules is, well, broken glass, nobody likes playing with broken glass, lol.

Though there are plastic ampules, I'm still not crazy about them for sterility and safety though.
