Hey guys, as you can see from my avatar, I had my top surgery. I'm so relieved. I did it through the NHS so I have been waiting for a little over two years since I was given my diagnosis of GID.

For anyone who is in the UK and interested in the surgeon, I had it with Mr Morris at Derriford Hospital in Plymouth and I chose not to have nipple grafts, instead I will have some nipples tattooed when my chest is all healed up.

Finally, for anyone still waiting on the NHS, it will come around and it is worth the wait.

Out of curiosity why did you choose not to have nipple grafts?  And what size were you (if you don't mind answering). 

I would like to have my surgery with Lena Andersson, even if I have to pay for it because I like the look of her method.  I think she can do peri style surgery even on a chest bigger than an A. 

Simply because they were the centre of my dysphoria and when my chest is all done, I don't want nipples that respond to touch/cold etc. I just want the appearance of nipples. Also, of the hundreds of chest results I've seen, I think problems with nipple healing/placement/size/symmetry/colouring/shape are second only to the problem scarring itself.

I was a big DD before and I didn't lose any of that size on T, so peri-style surgery was never an option. Even with 2 binders on, they were still visible, so having a flat chest just is still just plain weird right now. Wonderful... but weird!

Thanks for replying.   I can imagine it would be awful being trans with a chest like that, so very pleased for you to finally be free of it    I feel lucky for being able to bind flat - even though I hate wearing a binder. 

I think I'd like nipples that are slightly raised - preferably with some sensation but not the most important thing.  I think the most important thing for me personally is to be flat without use of a binder.  Anyway, enjoy your new chest, I'm sure the wierd feeling will go away in time

Wow, I thought it took longer to heal.  You look great, and I'm sure a lot of us would be interested in seeing pics if you end up getting nipples tattooed on.  It's something I had never considered.

Thanks guys. It's looking better every day but it's by no means healed. I'm now 18 days post-op, the incisions have lost all of the scabs and have completely sealed so I've started with stuff to help the scarring. I will remember to post up a picture when I get nipples done. It probably won't be until April/May I don't think, when it's all settled down. There's still a lot of bruising because I had a huge haematoma and had to go back into surgery to stop the bleeding. I ended up losing about two pints of blood. Healing is going well though, I made a point to eat a lot of fruit, salad and vegetables and take vitamin E supplements when I was allowed home.

Looking great mate! I am probably going to get my surgery on the NHS too, it's gonna be a long wait but by the looks of your results it will be worth it.

      I should be having my surgery sometime this year (Im praying all goes well) I have my appointment with my 2nd consultant next week, which I know will go fine, but Ive been warned the PCT may refuse the funding due to cutting costs, so we will see.

   But I was wondering how much choice you had in the matter regarding which surgeon you went with? I assume since your surgery was on the NHS, that your whole transition process was too as opposed to being private. Other guys who have had their surgery through the NHS have either beein with Dai Davies or Lena Andersson (although, the only Andersson patients had Peri).
  Im coming upto 5 years since my GID diagnosis, its been a frustratingly long road, but like youve said, we will all reach our goals And what a blessing it will be!

I hope youre healing is all going well.
