Hi
I wish I was fortunate enough to start transitioning in my teens like some of the girls now do.  They get wide hips! Well I started HRT in my 50s and I have no female hips at all! What do you do?   What are tricks in dressing to help with this issue that seems to be a real big problem to me looking like I could pass as a woman...Help!
Thanks
Amelia

For awhile I used hip pads like you get from the CD sites.  But I went on in transition, I guess I just got use to my hips a s they are.  Yes I want bigger hips but I have what I have.

I have found that using tailored shirts also help to simulate hips.

You can create the illusion of wide hips by wearing a type of built around your waist or clothing that ties in around the waist.

I bought a padded hip product from a TG site, works nicely. But a comment from a number of GG women I know; " I'd kill you to have those slim hips'. Which just goes to show that the grass is brown on both sides of the fence.

Depending on the comfort zone you are used to, corsets are a great way to extenuate female curves. I am not talking cheap fluffy stuff but real steel boned quality corset. I reduce my waist size by 4" and now at 32 I end up 28 not bad considering the rest of me stays the same so hip to waist ratio is quite girly. After a while you get used to the feeling and forget you've got it on unless of course you live in the tropics and sweat like a boy then it becomes bit uncomfortable. Oh well, what wouldn't we do for fashion :-)

I used padding as well, but had to make it myself.

Almost every gg I've ever met who has mentiond it, seem to be self conscious about their hips. The old question, 'Does my bum stick out in this?'

Be interested in a link Cindy.

I don't know why a gal would want such narrow hips as I have..you look like a guy!
The corset is an option or padding it sounds like.  I am heavy to begin with so I am no 32 waist like you dear :(  Thanks to all for your replies.

PS Cindy I did not mean to imply you look like a guy!  You sure don't.!  But I do look like a guy with such narrow hips! Sometimes when I say things it doesn't come out right!

Short answer: the anorexic model look is "in" for women right now, along with clothing that minimizes the appearance of hips (low-rise jeans, long skinny-fit T-shirts). Wide hips and generous butts are only in fashion for women of certain ethnic groups (primarily black and Hispanic) and only if they have a certain high and rounded shape.

Why do so many white and Asian women want 30-inch hips that fit loosely in their size-0 hip-minimizing skinny low-rise jeans, when men are generally more attracted to curves? Who knows. But they do, and that's good news for white and Asian trans girls, provided you can manage to be skinny enough.

Here's a tip I have been using. It may not be especially effective, but it helps me feel more feminine.

Get one of those long fabric belts that you tie like a motorcycle helmet (with metallic rings). They were a big hit ten or fifteen years ago I think. Put it on, but not the standard way. Start from behind, make it go around you, then tie it. Let the long strand hang down. For me, it hangs down to about knee height.

It makes you a nice tail that moves with your hips when you walk, on top of attracting attention to the area of your hips and your butt - their movement (and maybe their size, but, like it or not, big butts are feminine) will be visually enhanced. This, I believe, will give more of a "female shape" illusion.

No need to apologize Hun. .
I also bought a waist cincher, less over the top than a corset but holds the tummy in and makes you stand up straight, which is a feminine look as well.

skirts that have movement help, and fitted tops.

Losing weight would help too I think, especially if you have a bit of a belly.

The key is to wear clothes that make the most of what you have. Tight fitting skirts and jeans are not flattering with narrow hips.

With time and luck the hormones will shift more fat to your hips and bottom which will help.

Keeping weight down is also important.
