I heard that your period stops when you're on T but not all people's periods stop. Is this true? How common is it that your period DOESN'T stop? I hope not too common? Also once you start T and your period stops, it NEVER comes back again, right?

Sometimes it can take a higher dose to make your period stop. It depends on the person.

Your period can come back if you stop taking T. The reproductive system is resilient and can bounce back. This is how Thomas Beaty was able to get pregnant post transition.

The female menstrual cycle is surprisingly resilient. Usually Test stops it but you have to start with the highest dose initially and then once your period stops officially you can taper down after a few months

There are some endos who recommend taking depo-provera or a different form of estrogen-blocker (typically a GnRH agonist - a more expensive route) in advance or at the same time of starting T to make the period go away first or faster.

I'm not saying that this is right for everyone or will be offered/recommended by every doctor. Depo-provera has a litany of side effects (including the fact that it doesn't always stop the bleeding), and GnRH agonists are complicated, expensive drugs too.

But if it is very important to you to get rid of your period faster, you can talk to your doctor about whether this type of route makes sense for you.

Agreed.  Hysto is definitely the first surgery I want.

It took me about 3 months on t before my period stopped... It actually took me until 6 weeks after that to figure out it wasn't coming back lol.

Everyone is different here it seems. It is like diet and working out...each person responds differently depending on their chemisty and metabolism.
I recall when I was given test originally my periods completely stopped and I even went through a period of about six years without test and they didn't come back. When they did finally come back I went on a couple of anabolics (as a bodybuilder) but they failed to stop it...went back on test...stopped within a month....

Don't know if any of you involve yourself in the various esters of test. But I have found enthanate, cypionate, sust and nebido to be trustworth. Propionate....less water retention but less effective and frequent shots.

Anyone who is interested let me know and I will post profiles on site if the moderators allow...I have written several on test and other substances related to bodybuilding.
