One of the problems of vitimin suppliments is there appears to be two camps. One that dismisses or opposes, the other that preachs the virtue.

Vitimin suppliments can produce beneficial effects, but should never be taken continuously.

I recall a study in the 80s, I believe it was at a Californian university, where it was discovered that the human body tends to become dependant upon large doses of vitimin C, taken for extended periods. The effects of withdrawal were symptoms associated with severe deficiency.

B vitimins can produce some good results, B3 in particular, can have a good effect on some types of mood problems. But for some people, b vitimins can create kidney inflamation.

I'm sorry I can't produce any links. This and other information comes from my days of studying.

If you do try these suppliments, do so for a week, then rest for two. Also, any discomfort in the lower back, or any other parts of your body, stop. Drink a load of water.

After looking it up a little, taking extremely high doses (over the ceiling of 2g [2,000mg] per day) every day for a while can cause a "rebound scurvy" if suddenly stopped. I'd never suggest someone to take more of a vitamin than sources recommend though! 1,000mg a day supplementation is my absolute max!

Anywho, yes, try them for a week and if you notice something weird...Stop and drink some quality H2O.

Sutara.

I understand the reports.

However, my point is that treating these with common sense and some precaution is more likely to produce beneficial results and less likely to cause possible harm

I never, personally, get flu, but I do get colds every winter. After the initial cold has gone, I treat the remaining symproms with high dose of Vitamin C each night for about 5 days, Take a break for a week then another daily high dose for 5 days. Clears it up better than any cough medicine.

I suggest it it a mistake to put yourself onto routine doses of any medicine. Far better to look at your diet, lifestyle and the amount of fresh air you get.

Yeah another very unspoken of side effect is developing a personality. Known to cause loss of a lot of friends. Strangely enough.  ???

But also know to attract quality friends.

It can also cause you to develop strange tastes in clothing.

Honestly!  You'll start to wear clothes that are cleaned and pressed!  Also colors will become almost impossible to mix inappropriately, no more fall with summer colors.  Hell, you'll even learn what that means!!!  And say goodbye to that flannel shirt...

I have had fashion meltdowns getting dressed in the morning for work and be as much as a half an hour late because I'll look at myself in the mirror and strip it all off and start pulling clothes from the closet.

Honestly!  No one ever told me either!

Yeah, and the smile lines came with the territory too...

We "women of a certain age" can, and do, develop individual side-effects and propensities from HRT.  Mine is a touch of cellulite ... a heretofore unthinkable condition before HRT.  Darn!  Of course, I've been junking out WAAY more than I did in guy mode ...  ;) ... hee hee!

Get it while you can, baby!
Believe.  Persist.  Arrive.    :D
