The KKK flyered our neighborhood...

For people who advocate for English being the only American language, they really need to learn how to use it themselves. ;D

It was seriously a recruitment flyer for a KKK chapter.   Admittedly, we're a trailer park, so I suppose we're the right demographic...and it was, of course, anti-gay, anti-immigrant, anti-Latino, anti Black...all the juicy garbled bigotry you'd come to expect in your quality KKK flyer.

The flyer was white, so it's appropriate to say the wife found this lovely bit of white trash in our driveway on Saturday.
If I remember correctly this isn't the first time this has happened.  I seem to remember it happening when I was maybe in my teens (The wife and I live in my Mom's old house.)

Our finances are looking up...  My current pistol's this giant honker, so if I got a concealed-carry, I would really need a lighter pistol-and I shoot better with a .9 mil anyway...well, not that I shoot good.( Better have the extra long magazine???)

I  run/bicycle laps in the neighborhood and I'm I.D.ed queer...mostly my neighbors don't seem to care, but...if someone decides to make a point of caring-violently...

We live in the boonies, it will take the police at least 5-10 minutes to get to where we live even at full tilt-and our neighbors are, well...they should set soap operas in trailer parks.  Trailer park people do drama better than anybody.  And they do drugs, also, some of them.

And no, I'm not going to hide out in my own bleeping neighborhood.  I've lived there off and on since I was 10. Nor will I do nothing (although not sure what *to* do) if somebody starts picking on the brown folks who've moved in in the past few years.

Funny, but it was always the white kids who broke in to our house to steal stuff. And yeah, we found out-trailer park rumor mill...

This calls for retaliation, in kind.

Go flyer their neighborhood with anti-KKK propaganda.  >:-)

Yeah, but could you see me out for a run to the church and back with one of those on my back????

We're rifled sufficiently...my wife keeps reading about the Tea Party version of crazy...Last year she spent WAY too much money on a boomstick...and enough freaking ammo for the apocalypse.

Dang Tea Party people.

I want a shotgun for the aforementioned horrible aim...but still can't carry that when exercising.

@ Crimbuki...they'd come and kill our pets.  That's a misdemeanor and not likely to be seriously investigated-and they know that. Not wanting to draw attention to ourselves unless necessary, and I also suspect this will be the last we hear of them.

You hope for the best...but you prepare for the worst, yanno?

Sorry but this post caught my eye.. Are you sure the flyers are from the actually KKK? The reason I asked is because *cough* one my friends is an member of the KKK *cough* and I have never heard of them putting out flyers of any sort, because well I guess round here they are secretive. Btw, I'm not found of my friend being an member of that group.

Our chapters in Mississippi don't put fliers either. Many chapters just spread by word of mouth, but I've known some Texas and Carolina chapters to put fliers in trailer parks sometimes. I don't know if they're actually trying to scare people or if they're trying to recruit...

In any case, the KKK isn't actually as bad as it sounds. Sure, it's still dangerous and should be avoided, but I'd rather have a KKK chapter in my city than a bunch of unruly gangs that kill innocents for no reason and spread drugs around like candy. (I still haven't heard of a KKK chapter involved with drug trafficking)

From what I read online, it's an isolated, one-chapter group based over an hour away.  I suspect they are trying to recruit because they're desperately trying to grow.

What's creepier is that while researching the group that (ostensibly-good point, Raven) did the flyering on the Southern Poverty Law Center Website, I found out there's another chapter of the KKK, a different group entirely-this one a big-multi state organization...and they have a chapter that meets within thirty minutes of us.
I'm actually far more concerned about the second group than the ones who put the flyers out.  I think the others are probably a bunch of lame backwoods bubbas compared to the rednecks right up the road.

And no, I don't know if bathtub meth and the KKK ever joined forces-but a lot of the white-power neo-nazi types seemed to be into meth-using and making...as were biker gangs, and well, a lot of people.  It was kind of a cottage industry on my side of the county until they locked down sudafed (sending our jobs to Mexico, which is now where all the meth comes from ::)) Now the thing here seems to be illegal gambling in the form of gamerooms.

You sound white and Protestant.

The only thing I don't like about the KKK is their rasict views and how they feel towards homosexuals.. Does that make since? Yes I'm white but I'm no Protestant.. And stuff like that shouldn't have nothing to do with this topic..

Being white is pretty much at the heart of being able to say: In any case, the KKK isn't actually as bad as it sound and The only thing I don't like about the KKK...  Ever think you'd be sitting around all your African-American friends and ever hear them start a sentence like that?  Me either.

The KKK is a race-based domestic terrorist group.  They are no different from Al-Qaeda, except that they are not that smart or well-funded.  It's not just that they don't have any place in American society, because they oppose the most basic notions of freedom, democracy and meritocracy, they pretty much don't belong anywhere in the modern world.  The most basic beliefs of the KKK are based on things that progress and civilization have pretty much passed on by for well over a few hundred years now.

I'm sorry, I'm English and maybe ignorant about the KKK, but isn't that pretty much all that they are about, hating non white people and gay people. Is there something that I've missed?

Oh the KKK have gone all sorts of high tech now, and along with wearing bedsheets and good old-fashioned cross burnings (and who doesn't dig a cross burning?), have a web site.  My personal political values preclude me from linking it, as I think they are morons (no, sorry, that's insulting to morons) terrorists.

What I meant was whatever my religion and the color of my skin has nothing to do with this topic, because this topic is about the KKK flyers not me in any way. And I am not about to argue with anyone. I don't even know why someone had to say that I sound white and whatever, that you know what forget it. Have at it.

But that's exactly what the KKK is all about. Or does being black/jewish/lgbt qualify as a 'reason'?

Consider yourself enlightened.

There's really nothing left to be said here that tekla hasn't already clarified.

Mod hat.

Lets get back to the post rather than a slanging match.

I'll lock it otherwise and we have have a member who needs help.

Think about the situation they are in and try and help them rather than baiting each other over beliefs that you will not rectify in this post.

I'm sorry to hear this, rite_of_inversion. From your post this is directed at you and your wife? Not just generally to people in the park? Sorry might sound dumb but it wasn't clear.

What recourse is there? I'm in Australia so I really do not know the challenges and the law. But I would have thought that if you have been threatened and it is in print then that is assault and can and should be prosecuted.

Before you paint a picture of all  "Tea Party" as zealots,  uh let me remind you they are an off shoot of Libertarians , me  . President Thomas Jefferson was the founder of the American Libertarian party. I also advocate 2nd amendment rights and Gay marrage as well as complete sexual freedom from Government intrusion. So where does this put me ? I certainly don't associate my self with K K K Members ................ ellen
See ya on the road folks !!!

MillieB

Yeah, that does seem to be the thing about libertarians, go to the core principles and it is very similar to the original anarchists, freedom, self determination, self rule. But then they seem to be ultra conservative and at least to an English outsider to be made up of people who think that THEY should have rights but that it doesn't always extend to the likes of us. I do find the idea of libertarian thinking to be appealing though. The is more than can be said  for the anarchists who when I have spoken to them, they are just a bunch of marxists in disguise.

Sorry if this is off topic, I really don't know whayt I'd do if the KKK came knocking on my door. I'd most likely move I think!! :o
